A man, who disappeared on January 12 while foraging and hunting with friends, has been found dead in a forest in Lampang’s Muang district with shotgun wounds to his neck and chest.

Police said the body of Saneh Lekdee, 51, a resident of Ban Mae Hia village in Tambon Thung Kwao, was found on the mountain on Saturday evening.

The mountainous terrain made it difficult to retrieve the body on Huay Kong Kaeng Mountain in Tambon Thung Kwao of Muang district and Saneh’s corpse was brought down at 7pm on Sunday.

A doctor determined he had died more than seven days ago. He had shotgun pellets in his neck and chest and police suspect he was accidentally hit by friends who went to hunting wild animals in the forest.

The body was sent for autopsy to Lampang Hospital and his friends were to be brought in for questioning.

Why didn't his friends examine what they shot? A shotgun is only efective up to 30 meters. Why didn't they report the "accident" to authorities?
