This subject....... again ,TG has clicked  a like ,he sells rubber with no problems, we rear and sell a few cattle ,been doing it for a good few years now,no problems  ,like other TV members,you keep yourself to your self you should be ok ,and it  does help if you can speak some Thai or Lao.

A little update.

 

Even very little rain this year, the water flow from the jungle we have managed to trapp in our dikes, have really paid off together with the tanks we pump up water to. Have now 9 cubes at the land, and will buy 10 more. 

 

Next thing to do is make a borehole when Im back in Thailand.

A little update.

 

First rain season is over, and now we are in the cold one. Pond and dikes worked fine as long we had rain, and we still have 8m3 water stored in tanks, but now we will drill for water. Still upgrading our little bungalow, and also do some maintanence on the pond as well before it gets to dry and hard. 

 

Some fruit trees did not trive at all, and died for us, but we will plant other, and more hardwood as well. Next year we will do more vegetables when we have secured more water supplied after getting a borehole.

Keeping the family busy is important, but they have been great working on the land, so little by little we will built this small project, so they can get some back from it. As we have a place to store some few things, and also have a quiet place to relax and sleep when we visit.

The debris in the water settled after some few days adding lime to it. But every big rainfall it became the same. Now the dikes comes with less dirt since we got more grass on them, so it become alot better by time. 

 

I had a lot less time to be present since I worked alot more than I planned this year, so we will do step by step from now when I am here. The biggest problem is their insecurity to do something wrong, and useally they do it a bit different than I am thinking, so it is hard to control everything from distance. Quite obvious details seen from my part, is not that obvious for them, and I think most of you have experienced to same? 

 

So much I would like to do, but no hurry, it is very little money invested, and I expect no return at all. Just a hobbie for me, and hopefully some food and little sale for the parents by time. Not to forget my little heaven when Im visiting, and will have my own balcony and a bungalow on the quiet countryside. Watch the sunrise and sunset every day, what more can a simple man ask for ? 

 

Well when that is said, we will get the drilled water now, and Im not here, and that is kind of interesting. Have inspected the neighbour land who just got the borehole now, and it looks like decent work. I might ask for a decent submerible pump for 30+ meters if someone reading here can recomend one.

We will use generator and to fill pond and tank for bungalow. 

 

This is the new bore hole for the neighbour. 32 meters 20 000,- baht + pump, pipes etc. Not sure how much he paid total, but around 50 000,- +-

 

A quiet diesel generator is also on the buing list, if someone know where to get and what brand and model.

Franklin are are available in most shops with a good reputation.

A 2 hp will require a generator of at least 5.5kw.

You might have to google thaivisa generators to see what others have recommended on that side.

I read one HP will do the job even deeper, the the most important is how much water needed to pump daily when choosing power? 

 

The more I research, the mor I regret I gave it a go, when Im not here!

we have a 1.5hp franklin 47m down in the land/water, its pumps up to a  6/7 m water tower, just under 1 hour for 8000 liters of water. we use around 20,000 liters a days so the pump gets a work out, first one lasted around 5/6 years, on the secound one now. cost if you get one made in mexico budjet around 25,000 baht, but if made in taiwan i think the last one cost 7,000 ish baht, well under 10,000 baht any way, bought it at a little shop that only does pumps, never seen these pumps so cheap.....

kubota do a lovely 6kw diesel geni about 55,000 baht will start/ run this type of pump with with spare power... if you went for a petrol i would look a kwai thong 5.5kw (i think) for about 20,000 baht again will start/run this size of pump, over the years had afew kwai thong products always good stuff. honda are good but more bahts...

a 1hp or even 0.5hp could/would do a good job (franklin), and alot low starting amps needed. just read the spec on line.

on the "digging" for the well, around us they will go to around 50m for 5000 baht, or no water no pay, over the years we have put in 5/6 wells on different plots. this is very cheap for a well, i have spoken to some people in different areas that have paid around 50,000 baht for 50m...

Around here I have herd 500 baht/meter ,as you say your prices are cheap ,and it depends on how far you drill ,we live in a high water table area ,( well it should but the past 2 years have been dry water levels have dropped ),one guy near  us ,the drill come in the morning ,mid afternoon he was going home found water ,30 m .

As the crow flies, 2 km from us one guy had to drill 90m to find water .

Finished drilling at 60 meter, good water they say, and 20 000,- for the bore, and another 13 000,- for the package with pump ready.

sounds good, good looking drilling set up. around here its just 2 men and a pickup with drill and afew buckets of water....and of course the tent if have problems..555

They have two drilling rigs, and is busy all day long, and I was told we where nr 4 yesterday, but did not finish before this afternoon. It is a mountain behind there, so I guess they had some hard formations to get trough.

Second day filling the pond, and it seems very good so far. Total package price 33 000,- with one year warranty 60 meter deep. Cold fresh water so far, and now I am wondering how much water can we pump? I told them to be careful, not to pump to long at the time, and take some timeouts letting the well and pressure build up before they start again. Anyone with some experience about check the waterflow? When to service the pump etc, would be very much apreciated. 

 

Next now is to build a technical room, shadow for the water tanks and storage room. Another thing I am wondering about if I should build a room around the well, or just leave it open with just some concrete floor around? 

 

Before filling the pond they added 3 bags of bentonite to it to make sure it will hold water.

thanks for good and interesting thread.
i am in same situation you was a year ago, get some land with father in law. now we have already filled up and start build a small house, or maybe i should call it bungalow. 5*6 meter+ outside kitchen, and bathroom 2*2 meter. i think we can make this bungalow for same price ur bungalow. 

after bungalow is finnish we will plant some threes and fruits. but we dont know yet what kind of vegetation we will plant, but this tread give us many ideas.

so i want to thank you again for many good tips in this thread.

Now we moved out of Hua Hin, living in Isan, and who thought life would take such a wending? I have a great time up here, and found a meaning living up in a village I thought I never ever would settle. 

 

Mom and dad  is now hired 14 days each a month for 10 000,- baht, and they support themselves home now. I think first time in life they had reliable income every month. 

 

Budget so far with land borholes, tanks 46m3, pond, atv, 

 

Buildings at includes

 

a bungalow with sleeping room and bathroom

annex includes kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, gym, trees, wateringsystem, pumps, 3 aircons

 

In process garage/workshop, carport and BBQ house.

At total 2,1 million

Oh, done, one in dog kennel, and one at balcony, and a small fridge with freezer insice bungalow as well. 

 

Why gym? I only do watersystems now, so no more hard work for me.
