Daily News reported that 68 people died at the scene of road accidents in Thailand on Monday.

According to their figures it was the worst single day death toll since the so called deadly days of New Year.

They reported that 1,294 people have died in Thai road accidents since the start of the year.

This figure will rise as those that die in hospitals and other deaths are added to the lists.

Daily News showed a video of one accident on Monday - a car turning right in to the path of a truck.

They also reported on the death of a mobile crane lorry driver whose crane hit power lines while he was lifting ceramic tiles on a roadside.

The resulting electric shock and fire killed 29 year old Watchara Khongsathit.

...and the first month is not finished yet. Most countries would be horrified if they had this many fatalities in the whole year. The killing fields have moved here from the neighbours!

So who is actually surprised by this piece of news?  There are many uncertainties in the world but the one thing you can one hundred percent rely on is that the standard of driving in Thailand will never improve.

Thailand setting a new gold standard again, how long must we continue raising the bar ?
Not even on Prayut's radar, he is too busy counting the Chinese New Year invasion to worry about small details like this.

The Koreans practice fake funeral experiences on suicidal people. Perhaps that could be added to the thai driving tests? Go forward, reverse, park, then a few hours in a coffin.
