I believed Dtac

Recommended Posts

I hope this is the right forum. I read Dtac's info and it said if you sign up for a prepaid plan it will automatically extend to the following month if you have enough of a balance to cover it. I paid enough for three months but I kept getting messages that made no sense to me. Finally realized the promotion had not been extended and they were using up all my money on daily charges. So I went to Dtac a few days ago and they said they couldn't do anything because hey had no access to see what I paid. The woman told me to sit down as it would take a long time.

Unbelievable. I stayed at the counter figuring once I sat down they would ignore me. After about 30 minutes a woman, I assume the head honcho of the branch, came over and finally gave me credit for the month remaining.

I had also topped up my phone balance to 120b in case I needed to make a call. I normally use Line. I found out I have a problem in America I need to resolve so I made my first phone call since topping up to 120b. I couldn't do it because Dtac used up all the phone money too. I thought phone and data were two different things.

Anyway, I am going back to Dtac again to see if they will return the 120b to my account. I guess I now know better than to believe their literature and, if I decide to stay with them (probably not), I know I have to go to the office each month on the day of expiration (what a hassle) to renew for the next month. This is an international company and this is the best they can do?

Don't know how your contract got messed up but we have 5 DTAC numbers in the family, all of which renew monthly automatically since years, if there is enough money available.

Try the dtac website and log into your sim acct.  You can top up (easy with thai debit card) check transactions etc, pretty simple to use.

On their website there are prepaid plans that you can just put a code in your phone and change plan.  I do this when going remote Thailand and need 3-4 g internet.

With zero use any money over my monthly account disappears......I've had months I've been out of the country phone in hand, not tied to any network & the monthly amounts (correctly) are taken but the overages (few 100 baht) are gone too.....

They keep sending messages to top off & get a bonus.....I used to pay over 2 months at a time but the overage winnows away before the 2nd month is due not leaving enough.....Now I just pay my monthly + about 70 baht on the day it's due....Always seems to have a zero balance....

My wife quit using them for the same reason 100-200 paid = gone in less than a week with no calls.....

She's happy with True now.....

It's rare, as a family, if we make over 5-6 calls a month.....Overpaid by 65 baht 6 days ago......

Monthly plan but always getting these top up offers to throw more money in the pot......

Dtac is best one I've been with top up at any 7-11 a 100 bht a month covers it at times if I have made local mobile calls or 50 bht most months and I have 24-7 internet.

All that's required is a permanent 300 bht balance kept topped up. 👍

I don't have a Thai debit card and not sure I would trust Dtac with it anyway.

Now that I think about it, I think Dtac has done this to me in the past. But always had enough to last me until I left again.

Now I understand why, when I wanted to put three months money into my account, the Dtac guy said just do 1 month. I thought he was loony as then I would have to make a trek to Dtac on the night of expiration (not always convenient). But I guess he was telling me, without losing face, that the automatic renewal wouldn't work.

Likely little of what is posted here is correct.

All of the networks have plans with codes that allow renewal and codes for the same plan that do not.

So you need to be sure to apply the correct code.

If that is not the issue, the other issue is that some may forget about VAT. So a bundle priced at 100 baht, is actually 107 baht. So a balance of 100 baht will result in renewal failing.

Lastly, DTAC is the only network that sells you a plan to stop you from getting charged for data outside of a package. It costs a mere 30 baht for twelve months and gives you an 'always on' connection of 64 kbps. To apply the package, make sure you have a balance of at least 35 baht and then type *103*55# and then hit the Dial key.

No more data charges when any data package you purchase runs out.

Please post what package you use.     I see nothing on the Dtac site that remotely says anything about a ฿300 minimum balance.    Please help.    And 24/7 internet?    Is that with a smart phone?

You've got me there I have no idea what package it is, the 300 baht balance I keep topped up when they text me saying I've gone over my balance to maintain my internet.

They have text me like now even though I still have a 288 baht balance so I will pay 50 baht at 7-11 and that lasts a month.

To get it I went to our local Dtac shop with my Mrs and my Mrs arranged it for me, it's only 1 mb speed but OK for my use you can pay more and get faster speeds which you can top from your balance if it has enough baht in it.

If you ring the Dtac office they have English speaking staff I found them helpful because I'm useless at using my Android mobile.

What?

"...and they were using up all my money on daily charges".

"I couldn't do it because Dtac used up all the phone money too".

What you mean is that you were using all your money, not Dtac.

"I guess I now know better than to believe their literature..."

I'd guess that you need to read the details of your package more carefully and then change to one that suits your requirements better.

They are promotional ads, that's all, they're not demands!  Call them and tell them to stop sending them and they will.

Because when I visit Dtac they tell me to top up for my phone as well as get an internet package I got the impression those were 2 separate pools of money. But they used the "phone" money when they were charging me for internet activity. I now know better.

Of course they are.....But, my 499.00 monthly plan is paid up & any extra money/overages winnows down.....

Why throw more in?
