Man dies in Phuket road accident at Samkong underpass entrance

A car diver has died after losing control of his vehicle near the Samkong Underpass on Bypass Road.

 

The Phuket City Police were notified of the accident on Chalerm Phrakiet Rama 9 (Bypass Road), southbound, near the entrance of the Samkong Underpass at 1.12am this morning.

 

Police and rescue workers arrived to find a damaged black Honda sedan.  The body of a man, later identified as 39 year old Weerawat Sarakoo from Samut Prakan, was found inside the vehicle.

Another single vehicle accident, in the early hours of the morning, causing a death.

 

One can be forgiven for suspecting alcohol being involved.  On that basis, one can only wonder if this guy would have got a proper metered taxi home, should they be available here.  Sadly, they are not, and here's yet another death.

 

He could have easily wiped out another car, or a couple of motorbikes, and killed more, which means everyone on the roads here is at risk.

 

The lack of transport here is killing people, literally.

Of course everyone's at risk own the roads here NamKangMan... as soon as you head out in your car or on your bike you dont know what's going to happen.

True, but how many here are on the roads, intoxicated, simply because there is no alternative transport.

 

If you are in Pattaya, how many lives do you think the baht buses there have saved over the years????  Picture the road carnage in Pattaya without them.

 

Now, picture Phuket, no baht buses, no metered taxis, and tuk-tuks that want 200 baht, before you even start negotiating a price with them.

 

It all equals up to Phuket having some of the most dangerous roads in the world, terrible traffic, noise and air pollution, parking issues, decaying roads, and many accidents on a daily basis, some minor, some fatal, and everything in between.

 

All of this, so some crimials and sit around playing cards all day, waiting for their turn to rip off one customer, for a 5 minute journey, for over a days salary, and why, because they can.
