webfact
Thai dishonesty: Our friend stole 10 million baht from us video screenshot A group of about a dozen Thais went to Pattaya police yesterday to say that one of their trusted friends had ripped them off to the tune of 10 million baht. Piyathida Wongthani, 40, said they believed their friend because she ran a tour company. They invested in a Ponzi scheme and an insurance and loan scam. There are thought to be more than 20 victims some of whom have already reported separately to police. Losses are in the region of ten million baht, reported Pattaya Online News. Police said they want to talk to Suphaporn Thongwanphen, 51, who has a police record for hiring illegal guides. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2019-02-

cryo
As usual greed overcame common sense caused by the lack of a good education. I try to feel sorry for these people as they are not rich but the apparent lack of morals by the general Thai population makes scams like this very easy. Lacessit
This thread makes a refreshing change from the SOS of a farang being conned by a Thai. Although having said that, I've found all the Thais I deal with on a daily basis are honest. Perhaps that's because I'm in Chiang Mai, not Pattaya.
