Perhaps you can name one socialist country that really works?

Even the Scandinavians who managed to to make mild socialism work by avoiding so much human greed have started to stutter thanks to their open borders and attempts at being welcoming to immigrants who detest their hosts and want to impose their own crap society.

Socialism, like communism, is a theory that when put into practice fails - due to those lovely human traits of greed, arrogance, vanity, stupidity, envy and hypocrisy.

Capitalism may not be perfect, may favor the wealthy, but has been more successful and hasn't had to resort to the enslavement and forced indoctrination so often seen in leftist countries.

Israel would not even exist today without being very very socialist in her earlier decades. But now they are capitalist and the transition was made successfully. So yes socialism can work and work excellently in certain stages of a nation's development as but one example.

They should have been wearing scarlet red in remembrance of babies they'll be killing in NY and similar states that have approved the trimester abortion laws. Plus none of those women have enough virtue to wear white.

Did someone say red?

Socialism works well for Capitalists so long as the profits accrue to the Capitalists and the losses are borne by the Socialists.

Roosevelt: New Deal

Eisenhower:  Continued New Deal Agencies, expanded social security, support for science education that laid the foundation for the USA's hitech/biotech excellence.

Kennedy: Civil Rights Act, loosened monetary policy which made home ownership affordable.

Johnson; Voting Rights Act, support of the Space Program which created   well paying jobs for tens of thousands of Americans and bolstered the USA's strength in the hitech & transportation sector.

Nixon; Clean Air Act which benefited those who lived in heavy polluting factory  towns and cities,  created OSHA which protected workers from unsafe workplaces.

All of the above signature legislation required the input, assistance and agreement of the US Congress.

I am leaving off the more recent  politicians because people will just nitpick. However, the point here is that the USA despite political fights still manages to get things done and to enact legislation that benefits everyone.

Apologies, I should have included "these days" with my post. The last one you mention, Nixon, was a president of the 70s, about 40 years ago . Since the turn of the century, it's all ( IMO ) for the rich and the greedies.

Looks to me like they only helped the lazy and feckless, along with the rich and greedy.

IMO there has never been a true "socialist" country in existence, so it isn't possible to name one. Most countries with socialist in their title are anything but.

I did once live in a real socialist community, and it worked, but it was small, and didn't have loads of people who wanted other people to work for them so they could do sod all.

Really!

Capitalism has led to the virtual enslavement of millions of poor people in 3rd world countries making cheap stuff for people in capitalist countries. The capitalists just transferred slavery from their own countries to poor countries.

Since when did any politicians anywhere help regular working people?

Roosevelt: New Deal

Great post, but you forgot to mention FDR pulling in a bunch of his rich cronies, telling them "you broke the economy, now you're going to pay for it" and slapping them with 90% tax rate.  (They agreed when he threatened them with a 100% incremental tax rate if they didn't)  A rich guy, taxing the rich.  That took juevos.

The USA thrived for the next 40 or 50 years, until Reagan started dropping the top tax rates.  Since then, it's been a downhill slide, especially for the 99%.  Trickle down economics looks a lot like the 99% getting pissed on.

didn't kennedy propose the same things?

His initial plan called for a $13.5 billion tax cut through a reduction of the top incometax rate from 91% to 65%, reduction of the bottom rate from 20% to 14%, and a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 52% to 47%. The first attempt at passing the tax cuts was rejected by Congress in 1963.

then lbj put in this the folowing year:

things under carter were horrible as far as economics go.

Are you quoting the brilliant word of enthusiastic Trump supporter and former KKK Grand Wizard, Davide Duke? Or are you speaking for yourself?

I think he is acknowledging that white hooded men clapping for Trump is a pathetic reality.

So typical. The only thing these self centred ladies applauded for was themselves. Record unemployment for minorities? Sat on their hands. Economic growth? Sat on their hands. Completely self absorbed.

Most have only just been elected.

You'll be pleased to know they are not 'sitting on their hands'.

Is that supposed to be some clever deflection of the fact they found themselves the most compelling thing to clap about. The way they shouted USA USA USA! was right out of a Trump rally. The whole world had to laugh a little. The people who weren't laughing just sat there scowling when they weren't too busy applauding themselves. lol

I hope we can eventually get some sort of poll or article about what these brave new leaders are up to with the green deal. It's been awhile since the speech and if anything the performance is getting embarrassingly bad. Cortez is even making Pelosi and Schumer cringe. Omar is also really out there hitting home runs. Wait for it. The dems are beginning to implode before the campaigning has even started.

Cortez won't go on any business news program because she will be eaten alive in a New York minute. No Amazon pun intended.

Amazon actually spiked up when the news was announced they weren't building in NYC. Look below and the news was announced at 12 pm. Now with the SALT deductions gone high tax states which are the realm of people like Cortez, Schumer, Pelosi and the like are going to hurt bigly. The problem is they run to places that are livable and continue to vote the same way making those places the unaffordable hellholes they were trying to escape.
