Poll -- new confusing retirement police orders giving you stress?

Here's another way to look at the recent police orders regarding retirement for both income without embassy letters and bank method, with combo method without embassy letters being the most muddled and uncertain.

 

So if you're in the retirement system here already, or were planning on entering it soon, please rate your stress level about these changes, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 the most stress.

No stress yet, coz I'm still working, my biggest problem when I retire is going to be showing the lump sum came from outside Thailand (all my money is earned here). Not exactly difficult to fix with an out-in transfer but still a bind.

 

I'll just continue to worry where it's all going. Something to do with being married to a wonderful Thai lady who does not do "cheap".

Get a Non-Imm O from a nearby embassy based on your marriage then extend in country.

No need to show money came from outside I think.

No stress for me other than moderating all the topics about the change.

I do my extensions based upon marriage and already have years of transfers going into a Thai bank well above the 40k baht requirement to show for my extension.

I think the writing is on the wall for many, rather than moan about it day and night find a solution in your home country or some other cheap location. I read the but but but but excuses, frankly, the Thais don't care and with the rabid posts I lost interest and compassion.

No stress for me. I was looking for a country to spend some time in when I arrived in Thailand. Knowing that I was to be granted permission to stay on a yearly basis I didn't commit myself to things that last longer than 1 year that might be jeopardized should the rules change as I hate disappointments in life.

 

A lot of people from So California had built houses in Mexico along the Pacific coast south of Tijuana. In the 1980s they were kicked out. I never forgot that. Plus the 2007-8 financial crisis destroyed about 30% of my retirement. Life can be fleeting at times.

I'm getting stressed out trying to decide whether my stress level is 2, 3, or 4...... ! 

Why so many choices? There's more there than options for long sty visa's for Thailand...!

Reasonably stressed (well, reasonably p*ssed off).  I have 18 months to go before my Elite visa expires and I'm in no mood to renew it.  I have a monthly income from overseas (50,000+ baht) that is quite adequate for my single needs.

 

I work a lot of my time as a volunteer, so do not have the financial means to save 800,000+ baht just to use for a visa.  I am not happy that the requirement for an annual visa is based solely upon a monetary figure (idem for the Elite visa...). Seems that 'giving back' to Thailand isn't relevant, no matter how many years or how much effort you've put in.

 

Not sure what I will do in 18 months.  I can do my volunteer work in Myanmar or Cambodia etc, without the need to drop $25,000 or so in the bank ????
