Photo: Chalong Municipality PHUKET:-- A Phuket expat escaped deadly injury today as he was struck by power cables that were pulled down by a cement truck in Chalong earlier today (Feb 8). The 10-wheeled truck pulled down four power poles, Soi Anusorn, off Patak Rd, in Moo 10, Chalong, just before 12:25pm. madmitch
So that explains the reasoning behind the worst traffic jams I have ever experienced in Phuket today. One road closed and traffic tailing back for miles on both Chaofa East and West. 1 hour 45 minutes from Central to Karon this afternoon!
xylophone
Lucky the poor guy wasn't fried/electrocuted as there looks to be some pretty hefty insulators in amongst that lot = high voltage!

sammieuk1
With no pole load testing few stay wires no records of the myriad of spaghetti hanging off them no maintenance hit one and a shed load can fall over ????
hansgruber
Heavy trucks have no business being on those back streets using that shortcut. Thailand really tests my patience today due to this. Going to pick up kids from school and returning took over 3 hours. Can't wait for this tunnel to finish.
Psimbo
At least that one stopped. Common to see them snag wires and just do a runner (well- a driver).
Joe Mcseismic
I also thought that Chao Fah West had the worst traffic I'd ever seen. Now I know why. From the temple to the circle was a parking lot. No problem on the motorbike, though.

RotBenz8888
What? Nothing wrong with the brakes? Then it must have been the expat who pulled down those poles with his motorbike.

You call getting injured by falling power lines good luck? Don't bother saying "he was lucky because he wasn't killed". Surely, the motorist in front of him was even luckier. Even better plate numbers to use then.... maybe expats with thai wife’s should try making that point, as it’s them chasing lucky numbers. oh.... he was lucky he wasn’t killed ????.... and I’ll be willing to bet that the non dead expat agrees
