rooster59
Two Myanmar men arrested after 20kg of 'ice' found in SUV By Suphot Kaewkasi The Nation Two Myanmar men were arrested on Friday morning with 20 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine or "ice" worth Bt30 million hidden in the modified gas tank of their SUV in Kanchanaburi's Sangkhlaburi district. Following a tip-off about a Ford Everest SUV smuggling drugs via the Three Pagodas Border Pass, a combined team of police, army and district defense volunteers set up a checkpoint at the Rantee Bridge until they spotted the target vehicle at 7.30am, said Pol Captain Krityuth Noonchukhan from the Sangkhlaburi precinct. The officers pulled over the SUV and identified the two occupants as 27-year-old driver Thae Awe (not official spelling) and 31-year-old passenger Mau Mau Jor (not official spelling). As part of the search, checked the gas tank and found it had been modified to have a hidden compartment, contained 20 kilograms of "ice". The suspects reportedly confessed they were paid Bt25,000 each to transport the drugs to a spot in tambon Tha Sao in Sai Yok district for another person to pick up. Police later parked the SUV at the appointed spot until 1pm, but no-one showed up. from the home of CC
Police are sometimes tipped off as a diversion, they grab these 20 keys while 200 go through 5 kms away. Or, the police are thrown a bone for allowing a much bigger load through, so they can report to their higher ups they're on the job - see, we grabbed 20 keys - meanwhile being complicit in moving a lot more. With the poverty level wages that the police earn in SE Asia, anything is possible.
