A nasty experience

Recommended Posts

Hit on the leg myself on Monday by an elderly Japanese playing a shot as we were coming off the green, his caddy at fault for letting him do so.

Being Japanese he was extremely apologetic and I lost count of the number of bows he made, actually had to stop him, not physically! Caddy was lucky not to get an extended holiday, let her off with a bollicking.

Slightly left of the area where I was hit and it would not have been two black eyes!

Anyone has recommendations for an averagely priced golf course, north of CM city centre, preferably with young girls as caddies as opposed to 50yr old raccoons? Planning to pick up the game again after moving from Bkk recently.

Gymkhana and Stardome both in the city itself.

BTW, why was the caddy standing in front of the ball when you are playing your shot?

They take a short cut while golfers go back to the tee. They would be about 160 yards away, and usually put a tree between themselves and incoming balls. Either the caddy was standing out too far, or the ball ricocheted off a tree. I haven't been able to find out from my caddie what happened, possibly she is trying to protect the other caddy.

I couldn’t care less whether you mind or not, it’s completley irrelevant

If it's not relevant to you that you could be lumbered with hospital bills running to hundreds of thousands of baht, then I assume you have more money than sense.

If "golf" had been included in the title I could have avoided spending 5 minutes of my time on a thread on a subject I have no interest in.

:sorry:

I guess golf is not a popular sport in the Antarctic. Can't say I blame you.

You would think that the golf course itself would have some kind of insurance that covered this kind of stuff. All the adventure tours etc have to have insurance to cover the likely happenings and look how the authorities come down on them when they drop off a zipline etc. But for some reason it seems in golf no one has to take responsibility ? Don't the courses even have accident / health insurance for their employees ?

I was thinking along the same lines. I am not a golfer, but want to ask why do the courses not have public liability insurance, and employee insurance. still, thanks to Lacessit for the post as it does convey the need for personal insurance that some people may overlook.

There are notices posted around the golf course that state if you hit anyone or anything, it is your responsibility for any injury or damage. I don't know if that applies to other golf courses in Chiang Mai or elsewhere.

The caddies are supposed to have accident insurance. I was lucky, mine did. However, some do dodge the requirement inn order to save the 20 baht or so they pay out of each caddie fee.

Let's suppose I hit a ball out of bounds, it shatters a windscreen and causes an accident. Without the insurance I have now taken out, I am liable for all and any costs arising.

In Australia, the UK or USA, all courses carry public liability insurance for golfers and employees alike. TIT.

I thought it was a golf course not a go go bar, so what does the age of girls matter for the game. Would their skills not be more important if your really wanted to play golf ? Or is golf some kind of code word for sex ?

So basically they don't have any kind of insurance, whereas tour operators have to insure for every guest and employee for every trip.

It would seem that they also don't cover caddies under the social insurance scheme. I wonder if all golf courses are the same.

Sorry , which golf course was this?

It doesn't. Hit anything in Thailand, and you are liable.

So the thai man who threw a sigarette butt out of his car with me driving motocy behind him was also liable? They do it all the time...

The difference between a Nannie State person and a Thai is so different.

Perhaps the OP refers to games played only with putters.
