scubascuba3 10,910
The last 4 weeks I've had an uncomfortable feeling after I've eaten. There is no pain but its not right. Its not indigestion. I thought it was the water, certain foods, tablets, I've ruled these out as a cause. I saw Memorial Dr a week ago, he thought symptoms would go within a couple days after taking:Sanosec Omeprazole 20mg twice a day, Motilium-M 3 times a day, Belcid forte suspension Aluminium Hydroxide gel 3 times a day. Symptoms still here. Medication ran out, symptoms worsened a bit so i bought more Sanosec and Belcid forte suspension. I don't have nausea, no diarrhoea, stools unchanged, normal colour, no blood I'm wondering if anyone has experience of this and can recommend a Dr/specialist in Pattaya? Are there any tests recommended? test for H.pylori bacteria? Gastroscopy? I'm due to go back to Memorial to the same doctor on Monday

Spidey 8,356
Omeprazole takes 2 weeks to kick in. Half of Thailand is on it (chilli addiction). Inexpensive at any local pharmacy. I was prescribed it for hiatus hernia, many years ago. Even now, if I try to reduce the dose, the symptoms return eventually. Might be worth trying a 2 week course of Lansoprazole first. I read it can take 4 weeks of taking a PPI like Omeprazole to give it time to heal
RotBenz8888 18,491
If you taken Omeprazol for a couple of weeks, and the symptoms are still there, I'd do I gastroscopy.

faraday 11,836
40mg starting dose of Omeprazole is a huge amount, as it doesn't sound like GERD. I would go & see a Gastroenterologist, & get this investigated thoroughly.

Although it's long term use an lead to brittle bones and dementia, which is why I keep trying to reduce my dose.

scubascuba3 10,910
its like wondering where Wonder Woman is to save the day. That's it, we do our best to guess the way through but out here you're not sure of the competence of the hospitals and the people you see
scubascuba3 10,910
At Memorial they seem to have different clinics. GI seems like its the right one. Anyone know what Ent. clinic is? Would i just go to reception and ask to see the specialist doctor mentioned at the clinic? as opposed to seeing the standard doctor first. It won't let me attach a screenprint. http://www.pattayamemorial.com/ShowContent.aspx?id=300086
LosLobo 189
Recently I had a stomach problem with no real classic symptoms, omeprazole and antacids didn't fix it so I consulted a doctor and he said I had a low grade stomach infection. He prescribed FLAGYL (metronidazole) tablets for 7 days which fixed the problem. But cannot drink alcohol for 10 days. If you have an ulcer a non invasive breathe test for ammonia will detect the presence of helicobacter pylori, this is available at most large hospitals. But you will need to fast off antibiotics and omeprazole for a while.
