webfact
Hundreds of Thais flock to marry at "The District of Love" on Valentine's Day Hundreds of prospective brides and groom waited in line at the Bang Rak district office this morning wanting to get married on Valentine's Day. First in line were Adirek Sae-jan, 34, and his sweetheart Sureerat Komonsai, 28, who left their home in Bang Khae at 10pm yesterday evening to make sure they didn't miss out. Sureerat said the couple had known each other for five years and they felt marrying at Bang Rak on Valentine's Day would be auspicious ensuring a long and happy union. "Rak" means love in Thai so Bang Rak denotes the "District of Love". Officers decked out the municipal office with a heart using the name in Thai "Lickit Rak Na Bang Rak" - "Epistle of Love at Bang Rak". Some 300 couples had preregistered to get married today. The official registration of marriages is called "jot thabian somrot" and for many will be followed by other ceremonies at houses and hotels. mmushr00m
I actually got married at Bang RAK years ago. Very professional and friendly. Great sense of humour too. Since they also registered divorces as well. They had both a Congratulations Just Married wall and a Congratulations Just Divorced wall for pictures
