Channel 3 TV reported on the arrest of a Thai messenger in Bangkok who was preying on women and the aged in the Huay Khwang area.

Preecha "Kong" Phothongkham was riding around in his spare time grabbing gold necklaces. There were five known offences three of which were caught on CCTV.

One showed the thief grab a necklace from an 80 year old grandmother as she rested with her Zimmer frame outside her house around lunchtime on Monday.

In another case last week a woman was dragged to the tarmac as the thief grabbed her necklace.

The thief was employed but his money was not enough for his "ice" (methamphetamine) habit.

A Region 1 met police spokesman said that Precha had previous offences for drugs and snatch theft but had served his time.

He advised vulnerable members of the public to hide their gold when out and about in the city.

I wonder how much time they spend on making up those lovely information boards which could be better used actually spending more time catching criminals.
