Visa exempt best borders and airports

Recommended Posts

Having already 2/3 setv visas in our passports we didn't even try to get another one.(PP said low chance)

Coming in from Cambodia, i know Poipet border is bad.

We have the 3 : flight back/20k Bhat/rental with a Thai ID

1. What land borders coming from Cambodia will be good and not a hassle ?

2. Coming to Surathani by air with a connection flight - usually we land in Bangkok but the border passport check is in Surathani (which is usually easy) , so when you

go by connection via Bangkok - can you be sure that the passport check will be at the final destination always ? (avoiding Bangkok)

Thanks a lot.

I can only answer #1:  Any entry-point other than Poipet are reported as not a problem, provided you do not have 2x land-border visa-exempt entries this calendar year.

The cash, flights, and rental are rarely asked for (cash more often from Malaysian entry-points), but it is wise to have them, as they are published requirements for obtaining a Visa-Exempt entry.

Having the location you will be staying printed-out is also helpful for another reason, as the IO has to type it into their system, and the space on the TM-6 is too small to hold many Thai addresses legibly.  They are usually happy if you can provide a printout, for that reason.

This is tricky. If your final destination is not an international airport, you will always need to clear immigration in Bangkok (you get over that hurdle because Surat is an international airport). Also, as a general rule, you will be forced to clear immigration in Bangkok if the domestic flight is on a separate ticket. If it is the same airline (this I think means Thai Airways) for the international flight and the domestic connection to Surat Thani, and a single ticket, you should usually be able to clear immigration in Surat Thani. If it is a single ticket with multiple airlines, you will need to enquire with the airlines to know the rules.

Thanks a lot to both answers, so things not entirly clear to me yet.

Regarding #1 , so if we don't have 2 exempts in 2019 ( zero ) we should be ok anyway on the border ? so what border will be not that hassle coming from Cambodia other than Poipet ?

Regarding #2 - so when we buy Airasia with a connection, say to Surat airport, because both flights are with airasia we can be sure the immigration is in the final destination - Surat ?

Is it true for any flight that is "connected automatically" even with 2 different companies ? (usually there is a sign in BKK says something like "to domestic connection go there" )

Thnx.
