Visa to enter Burma? If you intend to enter Burma chances are you need a visa either e visa, which is recommended, or from the Embassy. Depends on nationality and length of stay.

The in-out crossing from the Talad Rim Mooi at Mae Sot border post costs US$10 or B500, over the bridge a quick chat with the friendly Burmese officers, stamped in and out very efficiently. But you know that already.

Every nationality needs an e-visa or paper visa to enter at this crossing except nationals of Singapore (30 days), South Korea (30 days) and Japan (30 days). Thais can stay for up to 1 week in the vicinity of Myawaddy but must use their ID cards and a border pass. Passports are required only if arriving with a visa. Visa free entries for Thai and other ASEAN nationals must enter and leave through an international airport only. No exceptions. I spoke with a Filipino who thought he can enter visa-free there - the immigration officials said no, I pointed at the sign in the office that stated very clearly he needs a visa to enter by land. So he was rejected and went back to the Thai side.

Day entries are still permitted for all nationalities - you pay 500 Baht or US$10 and are allowed to roam around Myawaddy between 530am and 830pm Thai time.
