Pound will pop up to around $1.50 rather quickly if there is a deal . It’s only uncertainty and fear of a no deal that is keeping sterling in the $1.25/35 range . If there is a no deal I suspect $1.10 or even parity to begin with but then after the dust settles and all the doom and fear mongering is proven wrong and the UK actually doesn’t descend into civil war. Sterling will rise yet again.

Only a Brexiter could quote such a useless statistic

Why not take the average for a month before Brexit and and, say Jan 19. Spot rates can not be used in the way you suggest. Regression!

Its about 20%

I'll check movement against CHF - about 15%

So, 5% THB appreciation,15% Brexit idiocy?

Need expert opinions here....

Now do it with the Canadian $, Aussie $ and Euro. Still Brexit?

I know you won't do it so here it is, Feb 2016

1USD = 36bht today 31bht -15%

1Euro = 40 bht today 35bht -12%

1GBP = 50bht today 40bht -20%

1$AU = 25bht today 22bht -12%

1$Can = 26bht today 24bht -8%

This thread is about the effects of Brexit on TVF members.

What has the relocation of Ratcliffe and Dyson got to do with that?  And they have different reasons, unconnected to Brexit, for their relocation.

Pre-referendum GBP v USD was 1.43, now at 1.29, so this is about 10%. GBP v THB is indeed down 20% from the pre-referendum level but the loss is really 10% due to Baht strength and 10% due to post Brexit speculation. The Euro is also down about 11% over the same period against the THB but we'd better not talk about that as it might be construed as idiocy!

We are having a heated agreement!

Well thanks for that! I think cable is a special case but the others are fair enough. I'm no forex specialist. When taking contracts in another current I always killed the risk immediately by selling forward. I'm an engineer not a city barrow boy ????

Brexit is a great opportunity ,,,,

FARK the euro-trash ,,,Britain , US , Australia , Canada , NZ etc should have let the Germans have them.

The opportunity is to bring back the COMMONWEALTH. Let's see how Europe go's negotiating trade deals with us.

As for Northern island ,, I am sure the US can add a mexican wall ????

Britain effectively told Australia, Canada, NZ, etc to "sod off, we're part of Europe".  Now Britain thinks Australia, Canada, NZ, etc will be lining up to trade with it.  No doubt they will strike deals, but only ones that suit them, and not out of any feelings for Commonwealth and comradeship with the old country.

Can't blame them for cherry picking. But if they were so pissed off why stay in the club for 45 years?

The Commonwealth isn't a trade group, and the UK countries have no special status within it.  Besides which, you don't pull out of a club that does good because of a trade spat with one other member.  In fact, "spat" and "pissed off" are too strong.  The UK told its former dominions that there would be no more special trade privileges because it was part of Europe.  No problem.  just don't expect things to be as easy as some make out they will be when new trade negotiations start.

The UK has special status because the UK founded it, the Queen is the head of the Commonwealth and the HQ is in London. I didn't say it was a trade group.

The Commonwealth has a special place in the hearts of Grumpy Old Gits because of the Royal Yacht, Pathe News and Southern Rhodesia.

Always made me laugh that Wilson sent the cruiser HMS Tiger to sort out Rhodesia!

I don't think the Tiger was sent to sort the place out. Its significance at that time was more a meeting place for Wilson and Smith to attempt some negotiations. Highly unlikely any real threat of firing anything though still a show of force that the RN still had some clout.

How, man. What's the matter with you? London has never given a sh!te about us up here. What makes you think they will after Brexit?

We need to be sticking with the Scots and the EU, not that lot in London.

wheres  the  "i  dont  give  a  flying ferk" or "am sick of hearing about it and wish theyd  just get on with a fast exit and forget about it"  option?

Or  why not combine it with a lgtb question as thats all the rage and 99%  of  the population seem to be that way inclined  these  days
