What documents are needed to get a yellow book from the Amphoe. I am married to my wife and we want to live at her house in Yasothon. Thank you

10 Years ago when I applied for my first one, when we lived in Pathum Thani, I had to supply copies of my passport, my Thai marriage certificate and attached paper Kor ror 2, copies of my divorce paper from Canada, translated into Thai and notarized by Thai M.O.F.A. at CW.Bangkok. Copies of my wife's Tabien Ban, ID card. They may ask for some additional papers which I did not need.

Some say not worth the effort, I won't argue with that but you decide.

Must you be married to get a Yellow Book?

No.

But it might be easier with the marriage documents which show your name in Thai script (officially translated and notarized).

But still a translation of the passport might be required.

And here the offices have different expectations on the how-to.

Some are happy with a paper from a local translator, others want notarization from "Bangkok".

A game of luck.

I was told that the yellow book is "mated" to the blue house book. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

Of course.

It's nickname is usually "yellow house book".

First inside page describes the house (number, location of house).

Next page has your details (usually the only person entered, only foreigners in the house).

Same format as the "blue house book".

A list of persons registered to (live in) this house.

if you move to new location/house, new yellow house book required.

I had described the (maximum) list of documents that might be expected in this post from 2013:

https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/681733-yellow-book-the-chicken-or-the-egg/?do=findComment&comment=7039317

All this is needed to create a new record in the citizen database for you and you will be assigned 13 digit nr. like Thai citizens just that it starts with digit "6" and identifies you as a foreigner.

In this post a pixelated copy of the personal data page of my yellow book for better understanding what the entries are and which documents might be asked for:

Fortunately the "maximum" as described in my old post was not required for us (married).

No witnesses e.g. My wife was good enough.

If you are single they might require one or more reputable Thai persons to testify that you live in that house.

As written: "it depends", "bit of luck".

Some have given up after being harassed with all kinds of requirements.

For me it was pretty easy.

I sent you PM.

For the public: you have to go to the amphoe where you live of course.

No choice.

No, your yellow book can be anywhere, you don't have to live there.

Even then you have to apply at the office where the house is and they want a proof that you live there.

Sure you can move and let the yellow book become void.

Maybe a reason why some offices do not accept it as proof of residence.

The yellow book doesn't become void, unless you get a form from the amphur to move it. Most/most Thais don't live where there Tabien Baan shows.

True and see my previous post.

Another member wrote that he was sent by DLT to "update" his yellow book which he did.

I asked about details but the member did not come back to the thread.

So unclear what this could mean.

DLT?

You get a form from the old amphur, who stamp it finished. You take the form and old book to the new amphur to get a new one.
