Sanook reported on the arrest of an administrator of a closed Line group who was selling pornographic pictures and videos of children.

Somya was arrested by a DSI force, child protection agencies and Region 2 police. He was wanted on a warrant.

A desktop computer and laptop contained 5,000 indecent images and videos.

Acting as an administrator Somya had advertised through Facebook for paid membership of a closed Line group that shared the images.

The case came to light after help from the California based Operation Underground Railroad that assists governments in cases of human trafficking and sex trafficking with a special focus on children.

The DSI reminded the public that possessing indecent images or videos of children is a criminal offence. They called for the public to contact them on their free nationwide hotline - 1202 - with leads.

I gotta agree with you there.

I think most of us, especially if you have children can't even imagine what drives these men, and of course as with most sex crime it's 99% men.

I think that the online stuff has actually made it easier for law enforcement to track them down, while at the same time making it easier for them to ply their trade.

Growing up in the 60's & 70's I honestly can't remember it ever being talked about, although as with sex in general it must have been happening

Yes, I did as well grow up in that period, but that it wasn't talked about doesn't mean it did not happen - it happened then as today, but in secret.

The good thing for the victims today compared to earlier is that it is far more easy to get help in a early stage as it is more transparency and established crisis centers with professionals trained for the purpose especially in Europe and its progressing both in Asia and Africa.

Unfortunately as long as mankind has existed and will continue to exist then abuse will occur with both adults and children despite all precautions we are trying to take ...

Two sides to the coin. Online has made it easier for pornographers and pedophiles to operate. Way back then, these perverts had to use the postal systems.

Gotta admit, since I am disgusted by kiddie porn, I don't understand why it's okay to exploit the local cuties as sperm receptacles just because they pass some magic age milestone.

Kids are disadvantaged by their age.  The local cuties are disadvantaged by economic realities of being born and raised in a developing country.  Seems a little disingenuous to condemn one while moving to a country mostly to avail yourself to the other.

Edit:  Of course, that remark isn't directed at every guy in Thailand.  Maybe not even the majority.  But a significant minority...

I am totally with you on this one.

Everytime I have expressed any disgust at the 60 something with the 20 something, which in my eyes at least is little better than kiddie porn, I've been trolled like you wouldn't believe.

They are generally poor uneducated women being exploited by western men with money

Well that should fire up the trolls!

The desire in these perverts (aka paeds) must be tremendously great in that they surely must know the consequences of their actions but persist in the abuse anyway. I hope this one brings a huge bulge in the sex offender's list.

Sick sub humans !

My Thai son is very protective of his 3 young kids and he watches continuously where they are and who else is there with them etc.

And for good reason, a middle aged loud mouth full on ladyboy in the family was caught having undressed an 8 year old girl and was giving her a bath. Further checking revealed her parents had not asked him to give the girl a bath, it had happened 4 or 5 times before, and each time the bath took well over 1 hour.

Son has made it very clear to the ladyboy to stay well away from his kids.

On many occasions my son has asked his cousins / friends 'where are your kids?'

They don't know 'maybe they went to town with the lady from another house.' All vague answers because the truth is they don't know where their kids are and they don't see any need to know where their kids are.

I never had a problem with prostitution, everyone can work here so there are other options. I don't see it as exploiting at all. My opinion of course. Also havent used services of paid for play for at least 10 years. Just does not do it for me.

In the Netherlands there is also legal prostitution and I would say that its easier to be exploited there because of pimps. You don't see those here.

Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion, how is prostitution different then giving your wife a salary or her parents. Its a bit more covert but comes down to paying a girl to stay with you. (in a way).

It's just not my, thing, I might question the wife versus prostitute thing however.

Then again I'm kept man these days, so go figure.

Not my thing either otherwise I would have used in the past 10 years. But I certainly don't have a problem with others using the services. Underage is a totally different thing and should not even be compare with this.

You might question the wife vs prostitute thing your right, but handing over to a much younger wife is a lot like paying for a prostitute only less obvious. Its still using wealth to keep a woman just less  in your face.

Again I don't judge that either to each his or her own. I don't care to much what others do as long as it does not effect me negatively and the parties are not forced.

Don't see any difference in an ugly 30yo with no game who couldn't get a girl in his home country, coming here and finding one. None of them love us, it's all about the money.

But what has any of this have to do with porn-line-group?

I was stationed in Maastricht Netherlands in the early eighties, the age of consent was 12............I read later that was overturned and changed to 14.  When I ask folks in our local bar, "How can you allow such a thing with kids??  I was always told that a girl old enough to menstruate was old enough to decide what to do with their bodies............being an American with 3 younger sisters that revolted me.
