Cooperation between Thai and Chinese drug enforcement agencies has led to the arrest of a Chinese man hiding out at a Surin hotel in the north east of Thailand.

Immigration aided their drug agency counterparts by tracking down Wu Qianxing after he sent an agent to extend his visa.

He is now in the hands of the Chinese authorities who are continuing their efforts to round up an international heroin smuggling gang.

Twenty four suspects were arrested in Hainan in July along with heroin and "ice" (methamphetamine) but two fled to Thailand.

One remains at large and is currently being sought in Thailand.

Yesterday deputy commissioner of the national Thai police Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakan and Mr Wei Xiaojun deputy secretary general of the Chinese counter narcotics center figured at a press conference hailing the cooperation between the two countries.

I'd have though the Chinese would have been either a small or a medium.
