Please list your favorite coffee brand that sells whole beans grown in Thailand. I’ve tried so many, mostly wonderful types around town, and just recently started brewing at home. So far I’ve bought beans from Akha Ama and like it, but I’m sure there are tons more to try and enjoy.

Best local arabica is from doi chaang, but official brand is relatively expensive. I buy from other channels single source from there, but you can find commercial doi chaang at select places like high end coffee machine retailer Verasu (there's one on Silom).  There are also some high-end roasters, and you can find them in articles in BK magazine.

 

Actually, regionally, another fantastic single source organic (as good as Doi Chaang), is from Myanmar single source organic whole beans (Genius Brand) which I do not think are sold yet in Thailand. As I fly often to Yangon for business I stock up and the price is really cheap.

I messed around with all the beans here for a few months...from High end roasters to supermarkets.

 

Right now I am using a dark roast Thai "Doi Chang" out of Tops. Dont know what its called but it is dark roast fine expresso ground in a Brown Box...comes compressed in non reusable foil. The grind of course is a bit of a PITA for a sock or a French Press as those should used with a medium grind, but at 105 baht for 250 grams? its equivalent to the high end stuff here. 3 tbs in a sock, 12oz 205F, 4 minutes, awesome.

For my taste, pressure is needed and the Italian style perculator gives some pressure as compared to French press that gives hardly any.

The home sized high pressure coffee machines with steamer are best of all and the only way to get that delightful aromatic creme on top.

Home Pro have a selection and prices slowly dropping.

My choice coffees are casino decaf big C and Blue mountain (strong stuff) in foodland

Yeah, of course you need your own grinder to make sure to use the appropriate grind for the brewing method. I like to mix up French Press, drip grind using a German high end machine, and other methods for my morning brews.
