WASHINGTON/SEOUL (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he wants North Korea to end its nuclear programme, but he is in no rush and has no pressing time schedule for Pyongyang to ultimately denuclearize.

Trump is meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the second time on Feb. 27 and 28 in Vietnam.

Speaking to reporters at a White House event, Trump said sanctions against the Asian nation would remain in place in the meantime and noted Pyongyang has not conducted nuclear or rocket tests recently.

"I'm in no rush. There's no testing. As long as there is no testing, I'm in no rush. If there's testing, that's another deal," he said.

"I'd just like to see ultimately denuclearisation of North Korea," he also said.

Earlier on Tuesday Trump spoke with South Korean President Moon Jae-in about the summit and he plans to talk to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday.

Moon told Trump in the call that his country is willing to open economic engagement with North Korea if it will hasten Pyongyang's denuclearisation, Moon's office said.

Since Trump and Kim first met in June last year, there has been little progress in talks between the two countries, while Moon and Kim have forged ahead with multiple summits of their own, as well as promises of inter-Korean cooperation on everything from reducing border tensions to launching a joint bid for the 2032 Olympics.

But plans for economic projects, such as allowing South Korean tourists to visit the North, have been on hold while the United States keeps its sanctions in place.

Moon told Trump he was ready to undertake anything from reconnecting rail and road links between the two Koreas to other inter-Korean economic cooperation to help on denuclearisation, according to a statement from Moon's spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom.

"We're determined to take up that role if President Trump asks, if that's the way to lessen the U.S. burden," Moon said.

Moon said it was Trump's "leadership and firm resolve" that had brought difficult negotiations with North Korea thus far, according to the statement.

He also said Trump is "overcoming diplomatic failures over the past 25 years that did not accomplish any outcome through negotiations but only strengthened North Korea's nuclear and missile capabilities."

Moon's praise echoes Trump's own assessment of his efforts. He recently said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

I get it- he talking the talk and taking his time and go on and on and on about how he is on good terms with Kim and how they do what he wants (they don't!) and then he will leave office in 2020 (latest!) and leave the whole mess to whoever comes after him!

This is the some stunt, he does with his dumbass wall: he has no plan, he has nowhere to go and he doesn't really know, what is going on!

So he is just kicking sand into the eyes of his base, who believe, that he is an angel of peace, worthy of the Nobel- price, because HE teld them so!

With this clown and his incapable administration of crooks, wannabe's and people he ows favors to, there will be no REAL politics or policies with Northkorea- just hot air and folklore!

“These commercial entities could "reap billions of dollars through contracts associated with constructing and operating nuclear facilities in Saudi Arabia".

“Firms linked to the president have reportedly pushed for these transfers.”

These 2 quotes from blues’s link (post above) seem to explain the why of it fairly clearly.

I do seem to remember donald bumping his gums about the wonderful beach’s in NK, which would be great real estate for hotels, but I can’t really see them building a trump tower in his lifetime.... but this is an easy give me for his piggy bank.

In the future, I think only nations like North Korea, and Russia would be interested in his properties. His name is radioactive around the world, and nobody will touch his properties from this point forward. He is basically finished. The worst thing in the world he could have done for his brand, was to become president. He has alienated the majority of Americans, who did not know much about him before, and most people all over the world.

That is just from your perspective .

Many people also admire him and think that hes doing a good job as POTUS

The anti Trump brigade is just a vociferousness  minority

That is nearly amusing. Are you American? Have you checked with your home country lately? A majority of Americans do not support, nor approve of the job he is doing. His approval numbers have been dropping lately, and even among his base, his approval is dropping. And have you checked overseas?

Gallup poll out this week finds that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a favorable rating of 38% and an unfavorable rating of 48%. That's bad enough for a net favorability rating of -10 points.
The same poll also showed that President Donald Trump's favorable rating is 40% to unfavorable rating of 58%. That means his net favorability rating is -18 points.

The global poll from Gallup found that on average only 30 percent of the world approves of U.S. leadership during President Donald Trump's first year in office, down from 48 percent in the last year of President Barack Obama's administration in 2016. The United States' leadership approval rating is now only slightly better than Russia's, 27 percent, and is on-par with China's rating of 31 percent. With a rating of 41 percent, Germany replaced the United States as the highest-rated global power.

There were 134 countries surveyed for the 2017 poll.

The poll suggests Trump's "America First" policies and attitudes are weakening approval of U.S. leadership around the world, but also close to home.
