No, it's not, that is an element of Thai law!

That is exactly what he was referring to.   The fact that Thai law allows a person  convicted of murder, or of covering up the murder, to be given bail pending an appeal hearing , which could take years, is enough to ridicule the Thai legal system.

Whenever a poster on here make any kind of criticism of anything Thai, up jumps Just weird to defend the Thai system, no matter how ridiculous it appears to the outside world.  We all know that Thailand is "amazing" and the centre of the Universe, so

there is no need for you to remind us every five minutes.

That loathsome excuse for a human being has just been convicted of a horrific murder and sentenced to IMPRISONMENT FOR LIFE.

Yet the Appeals Court is currently "considering" whether this monster should be set free on bail. What in god's name is there to consider??? She should be locked up pending her appeal.

Set her free and she will surely abscond abroad -- like so many many others before her. I have never really understood that malpractice of granting bail on convictions as serious as murder. In my opinion that disgusting system is actually encouraging these criminals to do a runner.

Maybe indirectly thai authority is culling the herd of criminals using bail. No need to provide food and accommodation for a long long time. Sending them overseas to other countries forever seems similar to disposing your garbage over the fence to the neighbors. out of sight out of mind mindset. Let others deal with the problem.

village headman was involved. No surprise. Are they ever not part of the problem. Who needs them. Its the 21st century.

Village headman is equivalent to mayor in western world. He deals with the communal problems and act as a liaison officer between the villagers and the authorities. He plays an important role in the machination of the social order . In some Asian countries, in the cities, it is the secret societies or guild of commerce  that took over the job of looking after the welfare of various ethnic people.
