White woman berates Mexican restaurant manager for speaking Spanish

Recommended Posts

A white woman, identified as Jill Cronenberger, was caught on video yelling at the manager of a Mexican restaurant in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to stop speaking Spanish.

In two videos posted on Facebook, Cronenberger can be heard telling the manager of Tampico Mexican Restaurant, Sergio Budar, that he needs to speak English and to “get the <deleted> out of my country.” However, it should be noted he is speaking English during the entirety of both videos.

The videos have racked up over 1 million views since they were posted on Saturday.

The woman tells Budar that she “lived in California for 20 years. English is our first language, so you need to speak English.” At one point, after being told several times to “speak English,” he replies, “What do you think I’m doing?”

He also explains to Cronenberger that he’s a U.S. citizen, but she doesn’t listen and continues on her tirade. Another patron at the restaurant is heard saying that she needs to leave if she’s going to continue “being racist.” She responds by saying, “I’m not racist.”

Budar asks her to leave the restaurant and says he will pay for the food she ate. Rather than leaving peacefully, she yells out that she was “raped by an illegal alien” and continues to repeat herself as she is escorted out. “You don’t speak Engish and you want me to be nice to you?” she asks as she is being held back. “<deleted> rapist,” she says as she walks out the door.

Irma Dleon posted the videos after her daughter captured the incident at work. “My poor baby was frightened but cannot believe this continues to happen,” she wrote on Facebook. “We should be united as a country but there is much hate. We are all human trying to help each other out. I will pray for this woman to be a better person, but you can only educate the ignorant. First, they must listen.”

“It makes me feel angry, sad. It’s unbelievable that we’re still seeing this kind of behavior to this day,” Budar told NBC News. “I’ve been living here for almost two decades and counting. I got my U.S. citizenship while here, but that doesn’t mean that people can’t speak other languages that are not English.”

Of course, nothing can be an excuse to abuse anybody with foul language, should it be at home or abroad..

... but on the other hand, have often seen for exemple pizzeria restaurant waiters trying to give the "italian touch" and to speak in italian with customers,  when in a country that does not speak italian...... that is naturally outrageous as one needs to speak the local language or at most english but nothing more when dealing with the public....

Her country? Racist pig should check her lineage, cause I'm sure it's not North American Indian. Kettle, pot, black....you know?

okay let me try to understand this... it's not her country?  Could it not be a country for all of them?

I always see these references to the Native American Indians and as much as i admire aspects of their culture and their history they don't own the land anymore than anyone else.  For example the Sioux Indians moved from Minnesota to roaming the great plains with the advent of the horse.  They displaced and basically killed off their competitors and took their lands.  And they were later displaced by the white man.

Don't people realize that the tribes fought for land and constantly displaced other tribes but when the white man displaced the tribes it was a different story?  It would be preferable if neither had happened but you can't have things both ways.

As for the two involved in the story's altercation.  She is a dumb ass for confronting someone and taking offense as she did and the employee is a dumbass who needs to learn english:)

No, she clearly said "I got raped by illegal aliens" That insinuates a group situation. (Vomiting)

Sadly, I feel remorse for them.

In the article it is stated that he spoke English throughout the incident.

Anyway, no excuse for her behaviour, but maybe she is mentally ill.

I thought for the past few years Spanish has been the national or most widely  spoken language  in the U. S.

No. The USA has no official language. There are some regions where not speaking Spanish is economically disadvantageous such Miami. The woman in this story is indeed a hater.

Yep, we wonder if the POTUS suffers from the same ailment.

The manager was speaking to her in English. There is only one violator in this story. The xenophobic woman.

You'd actually be amazed how common this is.

I'm Hispanic and while in Pepboys talking to the guy who was arranging to replace my tires, I got railed on by some lady for speaking Spanish. This was in California for God's sake!

Curiously I now live in South Dakota where in our puny State of 800K, probably less than 1% are Hispanic, never had a problem!

In point of fact I volunteer at the Literacy Council of South Dakota to teach Spanish, which is in high demand!

I just don't get this linguistic jingoism.

When my daughters were young, I spoke to them in Spanish, my ex wife spoke to them in English, so they ended up bilingual

Same with my Thai son. I spoke to him in English and Mandarin. Mom, Thai and Lao. Now he speaks all 4 fluently.

I tried to do Spanish as well, but keeping it all straight in my head just didn't work

What's not to like about that?

As an earlier poster stated, it is pushed by Fox and certain radio stations. They do it through association. So they have a piece complaining about people not using English in public, juxtapose with rape of white women by MS-13, then a bit about the wall. It is relentless propaganda feeding on people fears and resentment and there is ample evidence from every country in the world that propaganda works.
