banagan
I'm interested in a condo, 3rd floor. Nice views, however, right in front is a vacant piece of land, actually looks like a demolition site. How would you go about finding out if there's anything planned, like a block of condos. I'm in Chiang Mai. Cheers
KittenKong
You are on your own as far as I know. There is a reasonable chance that any empty plot could end up with a condo building or a karaoke bar or worse on it some day. Best buy something that has many small individually owned houses in front of it as these are unlikely to be redeveloped.
baansgr
Only sure way to know, is find the owner and buy the land yourself
Pilotman
Get a lawyer to do a Land Department search for you. They do it when you buy a house and its not that difficult to get reasonable up to date information. Of course, things can all change in an instant, so how practical it is for long term planning is debatable.
