What's the best bus route to get to Surat Thani (to Samui) from Khon Kaen

Looking for an overnight bus. There is one company that does it called Chan Tour bus this has bad reviews and given that it'll take 16+ hours i'm wondering if another company exists that does the same route..

or if it's better to go overnight to BKK, then take a separate morning bus to Surat Thani?

Without having done any checks: YES.

Khon Kaen to Surat Thani is more than a 1000 km (620 miles)!

Khon Kaen to Bangkok with NakhonChai Air or other reputable company.

Don't know about Bangkok to Surat Thani.

At least one morning bus.

10 hour trip.

Consider flying?

Four flights weekly KKC to Phuket (HKT).

You would be in S.T. same afternoon.

Might be easier/more relaxed than doing the change at Don Mueang/Suvarnabhumi.

Countless flights from Don Mueang and a few from Suvarnabhumi.

just looked on skyscanner and can fly there for 2000 baht via BKK

2 separate buses would probably come to 1500

Best book on the airline sites directly.

Like AirAsia via Don Mueang (DMK) or ThaiSmile via Suvarnabhumi (BKK).

Misc. payment options available.
