skippybangkok
Hi... especially Sherryl.... is this normal ? had Rotavirus quite heavy, slept a night in a hospital. Nurse put IV in what I felt was a stupid place, and work up 4 hours after with a sore hand wondering why.... arrrrggg was my first thought. hand, fingers, wrist and lower arm all swollen few days later - almost gone hand.HEIC
MalandLee
Usually results in amputation of the arm, especially for "Mac" users..

Sheryl
The IV infiltrated (needle passed through or out of the vein causing IV fluid to go into surrounding tissue). Very common occurrence. Treatment is simply to remove the IV and, if it is still needed, reinsert elsewhere. The fluid in the tissues gets reabsorbed on its own. They do seem to favor hand veins for IVs here.Sent from my SM-J701F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
tweedledee2
Where was the IV placed in the left arm? The swelling doesn't appear to be from an allergic reaction. It probably was caused by the IV leaking fluid at the insertion site either by a blown vein or improperly placed IV catheter.
skippybangkok
lol sofkevin..... yeh, might have stumbled one something.... but temporary, but could impress a first date with 36 hour endurance :)Thanks Sheryl n tweedle.... good to know not abnormal, and it was not an allergic reaction.I have some very big / visible veins in my hand which is the norm. Was not watching ( sick ) and she put it in a teeny vein at the end of my hand near my pinky which wiggled the iv every time I clenched my first..... don’t have to be a genius to figure out its a bad spotSent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
