This week island authorities announced they would prosecute the builders of the tunnel because they were unable to find any supporting documentation or permissions for the construction. The Koh Samui land office could, however, confirm that the land either side of the tunnel, was properly titled and owned by the same entity – the Ban Thai Beach Company based in the British Virgin Islands. Maybe the correct title for the snapshots should be, "Mystery tunnel discovered. Local authorities are looking into it." Don't sweat it guys. The Honduran caravan passed through it ages ago. If you read the other articles about "the mysterious Samui tunnel", it was revealed that the the tax-heaven company was part owner (shareholder) together with two others in a Thai company limited that is the registered land-owner, nothing suspect. As I posted in the original tread about the tunnel, by the time of construction – its not that mysterious, because it seemed like some people knew well about it then – all documents for the construction was in order and legal...????
