Hi Guys-

guess its time to add some real informations....

I know this poor fellow very well- He is in fact very sick himself and needs all these drugs to help himself surviving his daily pain caused by severe back spinal problems.

He had a back surgery a few months ago, this failed, after that he had daily 2 visits from the Bkk Pattaya Hospital ambulance, morning and evening, the nurses gave him intra venal antibiotics against his infection of the wound... over 2 weeks !

These drugs are mostly prescripted to him from Bkk Pattaya Hospital! He needs everything they found with him daily !!!!!

I really want to know who set him up? Somebody must have blackmailed him massively....It is really unbelievable to print his full name and address before he is convicted!!!!!

Now he is still in Bkk Jail, suffering heavily from not getting his medication-

Does anybody know a good lawyer to help him quickly in Bkk ?

Hi Siamfan,

Sorry to hear about your friend! The original information was sourced from Pattaya City News and it quite clearly says that your friend was arrested and charged with illegally exporting drugs from Thailand. If, as you say, he requires all these drugs for his own use then he is very sick indeed and should be in hospital.

Adrenaline - Allergies

Zithromay - antibiotic

Valtrex- antiviral

MST Continus - Morphine for cancer

What I don't understand is why would the police arrest anyone for illegally exporting drugs without having evidence to that effect in the first instance and why was your friend exporting these drugs when he needed them so much himself?

There is some info about this in some Swedish newspapers today (Sorry, in Swedish only):

http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/nyheter/stor...1011638,00.html

http://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=898054

He is suspected of smuggling large amount of narcotics and illegal substances to Sweden since 2002. When the police made the arrest in his luxury house he took out a fake police badge and said "I'm a Swedish colleague working under cover!". They found drugs, laptops, mobile phones and 4 bank books with 600,000 SEK (~ $60,000).

I usually take what I read in newspapers with a grain of salt, but based on what I've read so far it seems quite far fetched that the guy is a humanitarian sending medicine to "poor" Swedish people.

LMAO!

if this guy is as sick as people are saying he would have been in and out of hospitals and met lots of doctors surely he would have known it was ileagal and tried to get the relevent permits etc or maybe he did and thought what the hel_l ... unfortunatly the jails in thailand are like hel_l

good luck to him either way sounds like hes going to need it........

hmm i think easier access to drugs is a good thing, not everyone can afford doctors, let alone drugs. if it is sold over the counter in thailand, why couldn't it be like that everywhere?

Unless the west has turned into the 3rd world place Thailand often gets blamed to be...

- there are medical insurances paying for doctors and drugs

- there are social systems in certain countries that make any medical consultance and prescribed drugs free of charge (and if I'm not totally wrong Sweden is a good example for this)

Not every one can afford doctors (in the west) - you really must be joking.

Now the west needs little half smart business boys with a degree in.... the hel_l knows... providing them with drugs from Thailand.

SOURCE: Pattaya City News: February 28th 2007

Swedish man arrested and charged with illegally exporting drugs from Thailand.

At 7am on Wednesday, Police Colonel Itipon, the Chief of Immigration Police here in Pattaya in conjunction with Police Colonel Itipon from the Narcotics Crime Suppression Bureau in Bangkok served a warrant on Mr. Claes Magnus Ensio Salkojarkvi aged 38 from Sweden at house number 81/24 in Soi Neun Pleub Wan.

He was wanted in conjunction with allegations that he was illegally exporting medication to customers in Sweden. The suspect was taken back to the Immigration Office and evidence was collected at the scene including drugs such as Adrenaline Injections used for the treatment of allergies, Zithromay Tablets which are powerful antibiotics, the antiviral drug Valtrex and a drug known as MST Continus which is a morphine based painkiller commonly used in the treatment of cancer.

Numerous packets of syringes were also collected along with 64,170 Baht and 300 Euros in cash. A Police ID Badge from Stockholm and medals from Thailand which we believe may belong to the Grandfather of the accused were also found but we have had it confirmed from a source at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok that he is not a Police Officer in Sweden.

Similar tale (only involving totally crap viagra) in Bangkok two weeks ago. Did'nt appear in The Enlish language press, but did in the Japanese press as both men were Japanese. They also were sending back much needed medications! Only.......it ain't legal is it. 7oo kilos in a year as well!

Further checks on Mr. Salkojarkvi are now being made and for now he is refusing to confirm or deny the allegations against him despite the evidence collected.

If he setup some kinda trading company, paid taxes, and got a wp.

Maybe the Thais wouldn't nab him ?

Would it be illegal for him to send it, or for the Swedish people to receive the goods ?

Anyone know where I can buy some of that MST Continus? My back is a little sore today along with an arse ache from my boss.

On a serious note. I do like the fact that antibiotics are sold over the counter in LOS. I carry a 10 day supply of wide spectrum anti-biotics whenever I travel. In the US it costs hundreds of dollars to get an appointment and prescription for simple anti-biotics. Big racket and waste of time and $$$. On the downside antibiotics are all too often routinely dispensed for everything, including viruses for which they are useless, causing new strains of bacteria to become resistant. I believe the selling of anti-biotics over the counter in LOS will soon disappear.

As for the Swede. Do not know enough about his case. If it was to truly help others then I applaud his effort, even if illegal. Similar to the many samaritans who are routinely arrested in the US for dispensing clean syringes to drug addicts.

Helping those less fortunate is something we should all include in our daily routine of life.

I,m with you on the Racket issue and how costly Drugs can be ..But sadly the reason Antibiotics are controlled in the West more is because Different varieties of Antibiotics are becoming less effective on different strains of illness ... People that our abuseing Antibiotics by takeing them for nothing more than a common cold are scotching things for the rest of us .. Its becoming increasingly hard to combat illness because collectively we are becoming immune to our own Antibiotics because too many other people have already introduced then into the system to early or needlessly ..Its good idea to have them on you for emergencies when travelling but sadly by the time you get round to actually needing them you may find they will no longer be effective

If this Swede guy is indeed innocent i hope he gets let off soon and publicy apologised to just my 2 Bahts worth

So it seems people think that if a serious crime has taken place recently in the area then the police should just forget about any other lesser crimes taking place after the event until they catch the criminal from the serious crime. PG don’t you think if the police turned a blind eye to all other crimes at the moment that Pattaya may become a little more dangerous than it is currently with the Russian girls murderers still running about?

If these drugs require a prescription in Sweden then it is illegal for them to be ordered overseas.

Not quite so easy to set up a company doing this. He would need a pharmaceutical license, export license and work permit, (employ seven Thais). He would not need that amount of staff. Probably just one to collect his money that is probably sent in advance to him by western Union.

If he was daft enough to use his laptop instead of random internet cafes then he is probably up $hit creek.

I would venture to suggest he is not doing this for altruistic purposes but moreover as a way to fund his stay in Thailand.

It is just a variation on those that send steroids from Thailand illegally overseas. That is my take anyway.

facts:

He didnt broke the laws of Thailand !

Staying illegal in Thailand cause Sweden revoked his passport ?!!!

I think, Sweden can not revoke his passport, when he does not stay in Sweden.

Only Thai authorities can do this (take his passport), when he is staying in Thailand. And when thai authorities did not accept his staying in Thailand any more, he can go, where ever he wants.

Its not ok to deport someone, just because another state want this.

f.e.: Would Sweden deport a Thai citizen, who has criticize the military-junta at home, back to Thailand, when the thai authorities would asked for this little favour??

Please no comments, if you have no idea of international laws and fundamental principles of laws.

Fundamentals principles of laws?.. isn't breaking commercial laws an altogether different matter than applying one's civil rights such as freedom of speech?.. :o
