I'm amazed at how many people think 16 year olds are children.

Don't be amazed. At 16, boy or girl may have some mature body parts but their mind is often still at the stage of a child. It was five and a half decades ago but I remember myself at 16, all too well.

Maybe you were different.

"I'm amazed at how many people think"        16 year olds are children.

Maybe that is because 'many people' realize that by law they ARE CHILDREN........

It seems that in most nation's laws and in many peoples eyes that 16 year olds are still children......

16 year olds are approaching being ADULT and may even fool some.... Tha reason people are often asked to prove their age (alcohol and cigarettes purchases)

In my eyes a lady-boy is still a boy..... "I'm amazed at how many people think" a lady-boy is a girl.... BUT it Ain't so...... LOL ....

BUT... In any case............ May this dead 'child'.... RIP

What sort of scum is involved in an accident like this and runs away to hide?

I totally agree with your whole post and speak on this one point...

May I suggest it is probably 'all those' 'SCUM' that haven't killed anyone yet who got arrested 'driving under the influence' at some of the roadblock check-points....... This child's life might have been saved if only that car's driver had passed through such a check-point.......

There is, or has been, 'TOO PERMISSIVE' of an attitude in Thailand (and other places) about 'DRINK-DRIVING'......

AND 'not only Thai's'...... Look at the drunk BRIT recently on Pattaya Beach Road that was drink-driving and plowed his car into a bunch of parked motorbikes and injured a few on the sidewalk.....

HOW MANY???? OF YOU READING THIS???? drive drunk (or drinking) or otherwise under the influence????? OR KNOW of a 'Farang' friend WHO DOES????.......   Doing it on a motorbike IS INCLUDED.......

FOOD FOR THOUGHT...... Just think about it...........

Speed kills yet there are NO police speed checks despite the plethora of cameras.  One cop on a motor bike could and should pull in a potential killer every five minutes but they don't - there's no A/C on a bike.

Police should be able to get the name of owner quickly...after that...God only knows how much effort they will expend on the dead girl's behalf...

Yes there is a number plate in there somewhere I guess.

Tragic stuff.

They always flee the scene for a few days to get all drugs and alcohol out of their system.

Now surrender to the police and blame the accident on the dead girl and mechanical problems. Say sorry sorry. ! give a few wai's to the Buddha statue in the station and pay a 500 b fine.

Appeal the fine .

No pompem!

I don't drive in LOS but I doubt a farang can do the wai and 500 deal.

Big pompem!!!!!

Its high time fleeing the scene be made illegal here and anyone who does is automatically charged the maximum sentence for fleeing (equivalent to DUI).

...and after all that, they can finally confess and get 50% off.

The maximum fine for fleeing the accident scene ( without alcehol) is 1000 THB

last year a russian girl , hit my car. when i was calling olice/insurance ,she get into the car and went off . runs with 3 kids in the car with speed of 120 up over sukumvit

I followed her in full anger, 4 km later i catched the car ,she not willing to stop even i tryed 2 time. i was given the car a bump, to force to stop.

later at the police i was first double anger , because she was fined only 1000 for leaving the scene.

true, iasked after 2 times , yes its only 1000 cant belive it until today ( a fine for cigarette is higher)

It was a dangerous operation on the street, but i have 2a insurance and get only payed when i  have accident with other car or motorbike).

her insurance payed for my car ...and even for all 2 damages now on her car ( the first when she flee, second from the bump..what was even bigger bcs she had small car)

the girl ( woman) was evn little nuts she sayed she a pianist from kiev... some month later i saw her pic whe get jailed , she was an escort, involved in exosting .  so far a pianist, but remember she was very sexy.. on wating at police i sayed to her, why we not meet  in a disco..we could have a good time..she was yummmy

If impact with a scooter caused that much damage to the front of the car it must have been being driven not just very quickly but with excessive speed.

Looking at the size of the road and the damage to the car - this is Manslaughter.

That the driver fled the scene implies drugs or booze (or both).

A lot of farang concepts in there !

I don't know the area, but turning from a side road into a main road is mostly risky for bikes. They don't care about any traffic and get into your lane easily.

Maybe this attitude caused the accident

And it's pretty obvious you don't know who has the legal right of way here either.

Don't hold your breath.   There is no respect here for the cause or the impacts (excuse the pun) of accidents.  They don't care enough to do anything about anything.

The driver is a murderer and must be locked up for 20 years.

Unfortunately this is Thailand so I suspect a fine and paying 20k to the family will settle it.

And if all parties are happy with that, who are we to complain?

sadly i don't think dui checkpoints can stop a driving style where it is a necessity to pass any vehicle smaller than  yours at alarming speeds
