Russian Murders: Sketch Released Of Gunman, Witness In Protection

I still wonder who bought the girls the tickets to come from Russia to Pattaya. If it is the 40 year old European guy, the wife might have had some reason to be suspicious about their relationship.

Sometimes if you have the right contacts it can be cheaper to purchase the tickets outside of your home country. It doesn't neccesarily mean that someone else paid for the tickets, so i dont realy see anything sinister in this.

However the jellous thai wife hires hitman angle seems to fit the pattern, going on the recent reports.

When I said absurd, I meant his theory that the 2 girls were not shot at the beach but elsewehere and moved there and put in the beach-chairs....

Anyone who knows Jomtien beach and the road along the beach will agree that that theory is plain absurd.

He obviously has never been there.

His theory is that the bodies were moved to the beach by boat. I see nothing wrong with that, the sea was just 3 meters away from the victims.

By boat...even more odd.

His theory: the girls were killed elsewhere, put in a boat and put them nicely in some deckchairs.

Really?

The latest story from the police makes a lot more sense: jealous Thai wife from Russian husband hires a gunman.

Was he the same Russian man the girls away went with for 3 days on a motorbike?

Let's see what's next.

LaoPo

The 2 scenarios are possible:

The jealous wife hires murderer and these one kill the 2 laydies after following them to the club... I see nothing wrong with that.

And it's true that some pictures are not logic (no blood, back and chest,...)

Really?

not odd, it is the better way to move the bodies to the beach unnoticed

Anyone who knows Thailand a bit and the beach at nighttime, knows that there are ALWAYS (Thai) people, sitting, talking, sleeping somewhere, unnoticed in the dark.....

You will never get away with something as described in the theory of the Russian entrepreneur.

It's simply too risky and therefore odd and absurd.

If, just if, the girls were killed elsewhere, why would this person(s) take the risk of transporting them from the 'killing-scene' move them into a boat and than transport them to a 'risky' beach (with people)...and be kind enough to put them in the beach-chairs...? :o

LaoPo

It's even more risky to kill them on the beach...

But why dump them on the beach????????????

Why not dump them at sea from the imaginery boat?

The girls were seen going to the beaqch by the security guard

The girls were seen and on camera in the shop buying good before going to the beach

There is no grassy knoll - the girls were on the beach

Most of you have got it all wrong.

and how would you know ? do you know the motive behind this shooting ?

Yes and so do the cops. You might have to wait until my new book come out tax.

Tony

Get a grip on your life. You scour a message board then complain about post being made on a subject.

Stick to reading newspaper then which several have been listed.

Still much loose ends on this one.

Seems the Russians reputation are holding true to suspicion of being involved some way.

Also possible one of Pattaya's young motorbike thugs are keeping with the nonsense and laziness they so deserve. To lazy to get a job to earn a living so they stalk defenseless foreigners for a quick snatch of cash and for bragging rights shoot someone also. He hangs around the store where the girls visited on Jomtien

that morning and follows them to the beach.

Still is possible the girls decided not to pay back the cost of this vacation and it was a gun for hire situation.

These $300 a month operators must of saved quite a while to afford this tropical vacation. Anything so far learned from the Local Russian people leaves much speculation at best if not liars. None has come forward

other than the local country rep who seems to be a bit shady with his simple facts about the victims.

This is a classic either way and gives true shades of the life of Pattayians and whom they are attracting to reside in sin city. From the crimminal elements to the foreigners attracted to the place the puzzle has another piece to it. Showing itself to be rotten to the core in the day after day reports and general public comments.

It has all the sleaze and excitment of a city 10 x its size.

Sleepy little beach resort turns to central country hellhole that draws the shadiest characters from around the world.

Those are pretty amazing (sharp and clear) surveilance photos in asd's post #45 above.

Presumably there are also surveliance photos of the two girls arriving at the beach? I'm assuming the police have seen them and would be able to rule out the theory involving boats and transported dead bodies.

how come the camera is following him ? also if these cameras are up high on a poll the angle doesn't seem right

I don't think the camera was "following him". I think what was posted were sections cropped out of larger surveilance pictures.

If those pics were taken in sequence, it looks like he shot them in pics 1-4 then came around in pics 5-6, pausing in pic 7, fired again in pic 8, and then left. Doesn't look like robbery was in his mind, but who knows?

Elsewhere it was reported that he arrived and left in 10 seconds, but there have been so many conflicting "facts" it's hard to know what to believe. But, it seems plausible to me that that series of surviellance photos could have spanned a short period and if so, it would appear that there was definitely nothing in his mind but shoot and make *sure* they were dead.

Can't believe they printed this guys story.

Seems Pattayadaily news is terrible on getting facts correct from meetings they have with the police,

then they print this garbage that avoids simple facts from witnesses.

This guy writes 5 pages of speculation based soley on pictures of a crime seen.

SOURCE: Pattaya People: March 2nd 2007

(edited to avoid repetition)

At approximately 3.00 pm on 1st March, the police went to inspect Soi Wat Tham 4 Temple, where surprisingly they found the red-black Honda Wave motorbike that they were looking for. Miss Nonglak Sudta, aged 21, a staff worker of Hollywood discotheque, South Pattaya, was in possession of the motorbike.

She told the police that this motorbike belongs to her boyfriend, Anuchit Lamlert, aged 24, and he left it with her but never contacted her since that day.

Miss Nonglak was invited to the temporary command centre in Anantaya Resort straight away where she stated that she had been with Anuchit for about 2 months but never knew that Anuchit is a member of a “snatch and grab gang” because he never told her anything personal about himself.

As for his behavior; he usually went out at night with his friends. She only knows that he usually stays around Khao Mai Kaew area.

After getting all this information, the police quickly set a team of officers to inspect Khao Mai Kaew area to find Anuchit.

This investigation took all day and night until the 2nd of March when Anuchit was finally arrested and questioned until he confessed that he was the person who killed the Russian women with the motive of wanting to rob them. However, the police still don’t believe Anuchit’s statement and are still investigating further.

Later the police questioned about the gun that was used for the killing. At first Anuchit stated that after he shot the ladies, he fled in the Chaiyapruek’s direction and as he passed Ban Suan Lalana village, he threw the gun into the bushes.

Soon after the police team searched the bushes with difficulty but didn’t succeed in finding the gun. They then questioned Anuchit again. This pushed him to tell the police that after he shot the women, he sold the gun to a friend. Therefore, the police went to the ‘friend’ to seize the gun as evidence. Fortunately, they found the gun in question and now it needs to be inspected carefully to see if it matches the bullet wounds or not.

At the moment the police still don’t believe all of Anuchit’s statements and are trying hard to investigate the truth behind this positively mysterious case. The police want to make sure that Anuchit wasn’t set-up and the police want the true killer.

The police told reporters that they would need 2 days more to investigate until the case is cleared with evidence and a Press conference should be held on Saturday the 3rd of March.

President of Pattaya Tourism and Hotel Association, Khun Thanet Supornsahas-rungsi, said after this terrible event, many Russian tourists have left the Kingdom early out of fear of their safety.

Furthermore, a large number of reservations from Russian tourist groups have been cancelled.

Update:

Top cop: Jomtien tourist murder accomplices must be nabbed

BANGKOK: -- Thailand's acting national police chief is going to Pattaya Saturday to press local police to arrest all the accomplices of the murderer of two Russian tourists at Jomtien, a popular resort in the eastern seaboard province of Chon Buri.

National police chief Pol. Gen. Sereepisut Temiyaves on Friday told reporters that he was confident that the murderer's co-conspirators will be apprehended. Otherwise all local police officers – including the commanders and superintendents – will be held responsible for the failure.

"I've made it clear that the police must focus all their effort to prevent such crimes," Gen. Sereepisut said. "When a crime takes place, investigators must be committed to arresting the perpetrators. It's not a matter for special praise, but it is simply doing their duty."

Without stating what action will taken against negligent officers, Gen. Sereepisut said that Pattaya needs a restructuring, because there are many transnational gangsters residing in this resort city.

Thailand 's 'top cop' is apparently displeased that the prime suspect -- arrested Thursday – has not given a motive. Twenty-four-year-old Anuchit Lamlert confessed to shooting the two women to death while trying to rob them. His alleged action was reported to police by his sometime girlfriend.

Ms. Nongluck Sudta, 21, told police that Mr. Anuchit came to her Pattaya apartment early Sunday where they had lived together for several months. She was quoted as saying that Anuchit told her that he had shot two people and needed to stay for a few hours. He reportedly said that he intended to rob them.

Victims Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25 were found dead early Saturday in deckchairs on Jomtien beach, nearby Pattaya.

After allegedly committing the crime, Mr. Anuchit, the Chon Buri native dumped the murder weapon – a handgun --in a shrub-covered plot, according to Ms. Nongluck.

Pattaya police on Thursday questioned Chinnakorn Meeklee, 21, Mr. Anuchit's friend who reportedly received the murder weapon. Mr. Anuchit reportedly told his friend that he had shot the two Russian women to death.

Mr. Chinnakorn said that Anuchit was an amphetamine addict who often boasted of unusual behaviour while high on drugs, such as shooting at passing vehicles without reason.

Investigators said the suspect has a long criminal record. Early this year, he was arrested for armed robbery of foreign tourists in Pattaya and was released on bail.

Police arrested Mr. Anuchit in a rented room in nearby Sri Racha, and later found his motorcycle -- a red Honda Wave -- the same model seen in the blurry video footage from security cameras near the murder site, elsewhere in Bang Lamung district.

After the arrest of Mr. Anuchit Thursday, about 100 officers were assigned to search for the murder weapon at different places. The investigation is continuing.

Pattaya Daily News: March 2nd 2007: 1845

JUSTICE DOES NOT RECOGNISE DEADLINES !

The Pattaya police are doing their utmost to get a conviction in the case of the killing of the two Russian tourists. They appear at present to be sifting through every possible lead exhaustively.

Yet, the deadline for capturing the suspect at Midnight on Saturday set by the Thai chief of police draws ever nearer. And the police are bringing in all and sundry to gain a conviction

Yesterday, it was the young Thai, Krissana Duangphibool, whose photo was emblazoned across the local media as being the assailant, but it turns out that he had nothing to do with the murder. He merely resembled the man in a police mugshot.

The most recent alleged suspect, Anuchit Lamlert, who allegedly, according to his girlfriend, Ms Nongluck, a cashier at Hollywood Discotheque in Pattaya, awoke her at 5 am on Saturday morning and in a distressed state, confessed to her that he had just killed two farangs (Western nationals).

Some sources have reported that Anuchit was turned in by his former girlfriend・ but this information is incorrect. The video interview conducted by the Editor of Pattaya Daily News, yesterday, reveals that Ms. Nongluck is Anuchit's current girlfriend and, what's more, rather than turning him in, she, herself, was brought by the police to Ananthaya Hotel, the investigation headquarters, to answer questions from the media.

As one can see from the body language of Ms. Nongluck and her aversion to facing the camera, she is reluctant to answer certain questions.

http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.p...NEWS=0000002503

Logging on to this url and clicking on the video icon, you can see for yourselves, even if you can't understand the Thai language. A police source also maintained that investigators were also looking into a potential lead that a Thai women hired Anuchit to kill both women through jealousy, because one of them had had an affair with her Russian husband, who owns a tourism business in Pattaya, shortly after they visited his office. "The Thai wife was worried that her husband might get attracted to the Russian woman and later leave her for the younger girl, so she [may have] decided to whack her potential rival," the source was reported to have said by the Nation Newspaper.

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2007/03/02...es_30028305.php

The most damning assertion, so far, is that the killing didn't actually occur on the beach at all, but possibly in the vicinity of a local club. This was made by self-styled Russian entrepreneur, Sergei, who contributed his theories to Pattaya Daily News (http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.php?IDNEWS=0000002502).

He also points out the holes in the circumstantial evidence, notably the time require for the killing, the way the two women were dressed, the evidence of the blood, all points to the murder having committed elsewhere and the women's bodies being transported after the event, possibly by boat.

The raising of the reward to 500,000 Baht, definitely seems to have had an impact and could well lead to valuable evidence, especially from people who may be close to the shooter. Anyone having any information about possible suspects in this case is urged to report to Police Colonel Sutin direct on 081 875 1637.

Update (Unconfirmed!:

Man arrested, charged with killing Russian tourists in Thailand

PATTAYA: -- Thai police arrested a man and charged him with the murders of two female tourists who were gunned down on Jomtien beach in Pattaya last Saturday. The suspect was identified as Anuchit Lamlert, 24, an unemployed man who has been arrested many times for robbing foreign tourists, The Nation reported. The suspect has confessed of the killing. However, he would not give the reason. After committing the crime, he escaped from the scene by his motorcycle and threw the gun to the bushes. Thai Police are now searching for the murder weapon.

Police tracked down Lamlert after spreading a photo robot of the gunman and set award of $15,000 for information about his whereabouts. The image was made with the help of digital procession of a security camera video. The image was completed by testimony of a crime witness. The witness said the photo robot "resembled remarkably" a man he saw fleeing the crime scene when the Russian tourists were gunned.

As Newslab reported earlier, two tourists from Kemerovo Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Lyubov Svirkova, 25, were murdered on the beach in front of the Thai resort hotel in Pattaya on February 24. No evidence of struggle or violence were found. There were drinks unfinished and mobile phones nearby on the sand. Thai police reported that there had been several tens of incoming calls on the mobile phones of the girls not long before their killing.

The results of a medical forensic expert examination received after an autopsy of the bodies were made public on February 28. The amount of alcohol in the girls' blood was high enough, now drugs were detected. Experts stated that the tourists had had sexual contacts within for days preceding the murder. The fact is partially confirmed by the words of their relatives, who said the girls had been a success with men in Thailand, RBC reported. Svirkova's mother told her daughter wanted to leave before the trip pass was expired because of assertive courting by local men.

Despite the confession, the investigation is continuing on the basis of other leads suggesting the motive for the killings may not have been robbery. Police is identifying the mobile callers. Police are also checking information that a European man might have been also involved in the killing. Murderers are wanted among Russian tourists, youth Thai biker groups and international criminal gangs. The girls' bodies will be taken to Novosibirsk and passed to their relatives on March 2.

******NEWS******UPDATE******

SOURCE: Pattaya City News: March 2nd 2007: 1945

Suspect in custody but no motive forthcoming in the Russian double-murder case.

An update now on a story the world’s press has been closely following all week. We can confirm that in the early hours of Friday Morning a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of two Russian Tourists, Miss Tatiana Tsimfer aged 30 and Miss Liubov Svirkova aged 25.

They were shot on Jomtien Beach early last Saturday Morning by a gunman thought to be of Thai origin. All week Police Lieutenant General Asawin, the Region 2 Commander of Police and many other officers in conjunction with Russian Embassy Officials have been meticulously sifting through evidence as they attempted to build a profile of each victim and determine a motive for the killing.

What is known is that the pair had become friendly with a local Russian Business owner who is married to a Thai woman. Their acquaintance with this man was tabled as a possible motive for the attack.

On Thursday a photo-fit of a man wanted in connection with the shooting was released but he later gave himself up and was released after it was clear that he had no involvement in the case.

As forensic teams continued to examine the now, highly contaminated crime scene, the Command Unit based at the Anantaya Resort in Soi 18 Jomtien Beach Road received a call from Khun Nongluck aged 21, a Cashier from Hollywood’s Discotheque in South Pattaya, who claimed to be the former girlfriend of Khun Anuchit aged 24 who had apparently informed her hours after the shooting had taken place that it was him that committed the murder and he needed a place to stay to avoid the Police.

For days, she lived with the thought that she was harboring a possible murderer. She decided that she needed to inform Police before she became embroiled in the case. Police arrived at the woman’s apartment and saw the motorbike thought to have been used by the shooter and further information led them to a rented apartment in Kow Mai Geow Sub-District where the suspect was arrested.

Khun Anuchit is currently on bail for a previous armed robbery case involving a Korean man dating back to 27th January and has an extensive criminal record including bag snatches and house robberies. He confirmed that the weapon used was a 9mm Norinco pistol from China.

He claimed that he threw the firearm in undergrowth in nearby Soi Chayapreuk. Teams were sent to the location in an attempt to retrieve the weapon without success. Police quizzed the suspect over a motive for the attack. This information was not forthcoming however Police tell us that a contract killing because of the women’s relationship with the local Russian man has not been discounted.

A press conference has been set for 8am on Saturday which will be attended by Police General Saireepisoot, the acting National Chief of Police where it is hoped that further information on the shooter and the reason behind the attack will be released.

For now, the investigation seems to be coming to a conclusion however if it wasn’t for the former girlfriend of the suspect, it appears that the case would have still remained unsolved.

perhaps the powers that be will look into the thai bail system in the future.

career criminals like him should never have been allowed bail , and i fail to understand why he was bailed. how does a lowlife amphetamine addict he raise the kind of money necessary to secure bail for an armed robbery offence ?

National police chief Pol. Gen. Sereepisut Temiyaves on Friday told reporters that he was confident that the murderer's co-conspirators will be apprehended. Otherwise all local police officers – including the commanders and superintendents – will be held responsible for the failure.

thats fighting talk , time will tell if he has the balls to do as he says.

President of Pattaya Tourism and Hotel Association, Khun Thanet Supornsahas-rungsi, said after this terrible event, many Russian tourists have left the Kingdom early out of fear of their safety.

Furthermore, a large number of reservations from Russian tourist groups have been cancelled.

thats probably the main reason why the police are so keen to close this case.

police are now examining the 'highly contaminated' crime scene!!!!!!!!!!

The amount of evidence that could have been gathered within 24 hours of the crime, had the scene been protected properly, is huge.

I repeat again it is unneccessary, unprofessional, incompetant and naive, to allow the crime scene to be accessed by so many people including photographers.

what about this.

The travel agent owner Russian is pissed as he bought the tickets and the girls took off with the Russian restaurant owner whom they spent 3 days with on a motor bike trip. The suposedly motorcycle gang maybe all one of them.

The girls wanted come home early because the two Russians were at odds and threats made.

Which one hired the thug now.

Remember they had 80% alcohol as stated by Pattaya daily news, comatose would be .4% or 4%

one of these two. That would explain why the girls might of screamed but did not move as reported by

some newspapers. :o

I guess this leaves the two guys they took pics with in the water having been the ones that had sex and

took them to Koh Larn for 3 days.

The gun has turned up.

Pattaya tourist killing gun found

Police yesterday found the murder weapon used in killing two Russian women in Pattaya on February 24.

The 9mm Chinese-made Norinco pistol was found in a pond pinpointed by a witness, who is a close friend of murder suspect Anuchit Lamlert and volunteered information to police about the weapon yesterday after Anuchit was arrested on Thursday night.

The unidentified witness bought the handgun for Bt900 from Anuchit after it was used to kill Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25, while they sat drinking in deckchairs on Jomtien Beach.

He later threw it away in the pond near his home in Chon Buri's Sri Racha district after Anuchit failed to show up to buy it back as he had promised.

The witness now faces a charge of possessing a firearm without permission but will have the offence dropped in return for his testimony in court about Anuchit selling the handgun to him, police said.

Police quoted Anuchit as saying that he had merely wanted to rob the victims but had shot them dead after they yelled and screamed. He fled without taking anything.

According to police, Anuchit has committed numerous crimes, mainly robbery and mugging of foreign tourists in Pattaya.

He was temporarily released after allegedly shooting a South Korean tourist in January.

Both Anuchit and the witness are in police custody separately, and acting police chief Seripisut Temiyavej will today arrive in Pattaya to question Anuchit.

again , how can a gunman with a long record be released on bail.

are shootings against foriegners considered so trivial that bail is automatically guaranteed.

Reconstruction of the Russian double murder, suspect returns to scene of crime

Amongst the crowds, were more than 100 police officers, lots of media personnel, and of course, the suspect, Mr. Anuchit Lumlert, he was still wearing hand-cuffs and police had instructed him to re-trace his footsteps of the morning of the double murder, 24th Feb, 5.30 am.

Day 8 Sunday morning ( 4th March)

9.00 am. Jomtien beach, South Pattaya City, a very popular cosmopolitan destination. The young Thai suspect was very co-operative and seemed remarkably relaxed. The crime scene was prepared, with two local ladies acting as the victims. With camera’s rolling, the suspect re-enacted his alleged offence. Although the actual crime took no more than 9 seconds, today’s performance lasted one hour.

The action started on Jomtien beach road, on the left lane, 100 meters before the crime scene, then the killer drove past the victims, who were sitting on the deck chairs, facing north, he approached slowly and continued past them for about 100 meters, then he made a u-turn and parked the bike.

He looked over to the table and saw two pairs of shorts on a chair, which he thought were the personal bags of the victims, so he pulled out the gun and quickly walked behind the victims, wielding his gun intending to rob them, but, the victim who was sitting nearest the sea, turned suddenly and started to shout when she saw the gunman. He then fired one shot at her in the back, which caused the second victim to scream out loud, so he then proceeded to shoot her, firing randomly 5 more times, at both of them.

He quickly ran away and jumped on the motorbike and sped to his girlfriend’s place, in Soi Wat-tahm 4. He told her what he had done and then went to sleep! His girlfriend went to work the following evening, at Hollywood Disco, meanwhile he returned the motorbike to his friend, Mr. Monton Boonmee(30) residing at house no. 109/97 Moo .13 Nongpreu, Banglamung.

He also asked him to contact Mr. Tinnagorn Meeglee (21) his close friend to sell the gun for him, for 10,000 baht. They had a meeting in front of Nongprue temple, but Tinnagorn had only 900 baht! he grabbed the money and went to lay low at a house with no.number registered at Borwin, Sriracha, Chonburi. He had been hiding most of the week until the police arrested him when he returned to his home.

The suspect assured the media that there is nobody behind this crime. The police returned him to Dongtan police station for further investigation and he awaits his court hearing.

Police Lieutenant General Asawin also reported that they will be take proceedings against both, Mr. Tinnagorn Meeglee ( the man who purchased the gun from the suspect) and Mr. Monton Boonmee (the owner of the motorbike).

We will bring you further developments as and when they happen on a daily basis.

What type of person would hear a confession about a double murder and not report it? How could she just go to work the following evening without at least making an anonymous call to the police? She doesn't come off looking too good to me.

Hmmm... an earlier report said that the police hauled in the girlfriend for questioning. How did the police know to talk to her?

Glad they caught the shooter, but still looks like the story is incomplete.

Admittedly I do not know for sure the full facts, but this looks like a whitewash to me.

The line "The suspect assured the media that there is nobody behind this crime" tells me that the police are very keen to close this case ASAP . Is it common for the police to allow accused persons to talk to the press. I have not seen this before.

If it was a robbery why was nothing stolen?

If somebody is desperate enough to approach 2 people with a gun for the purpose of robbery, then the few seconds it would take to grab their possessions, panic or not, that is what would happen.

The accused goes home and tells his girlfriend what he has done????? Doubtful.

The adrenalin running through him at that time, he is supposedly then gone straight to sleep?? Doubtful

If the shooting took place as is suggested, I find the positioning of the bodies very strange.

If you were looking to do a robbery, why would you choose Jomtien at 530 in the morning??

Where does the suspect live in relation to the crime scene? I would doubt he could claim he just happened to be passing.

As I say I do not know the full facts, what I do know is the facts being presented are riddled with holes

Agreed 100%. I am sure that there is more to it. However what would prevent the gunman from telling the full story? Either money or loyalty or fear of 'grassing'.

However, he has almost certainly got to face a death or life sentence, that is not much to look forward to.

Perhaps further down the line, after doing some porridge he will 'talk': however there is always the strong chance he will be murdered in prison himself, in order to secure lasting silence.
