Police in Hua Hin yesterday found the remains of a nine year old boy who had been missing since Sunday.

He had been shot and buried in earth under heavy rocks near the village where he lived.

His distraught family said the spirit of the boy led them to the grave after a three day search turned up nothing.

Somporn and Pojae, the mother and father of Kluay, 9, a P3 student at Ban Phraek Takraw school reported their son missing on Sunday to phu yai ban Sawat Chuyim.

Relatives searched for days until the couple's youngest of five children said that Kluay's spirit had appeared to him and pointed to a hill near the village.

The parents subsequently went to the area of a disused pineapple plantation on a hillside and found a disturbed mound of earth covered in heavy rocks.

They called the Ban Nong Plap, Hua Hin police.

Their worst fears were realized when the body of their fourth child was discovered under 30 cm of earth.

He had been shot in the left side of the waist. He was sent for an immediate autopsy.

The mother and father said that their son was a wonderful boy who loved Thai boxing and would take part in temple fair boxing matches and always give his appearance money to his folks.

They are a very poor family, they said, with no fixed income.

Sanook described a pitiful scene as the parents saw their fourth child raised from his grave.

The media gave no reason why the boy might have been murdered and no police were quoted in the story.

They said that villagers in the area said this was the worst case in ten years and they urged the police to find the murderer without delay.

"Spirit" led them to the grave...? Family members have to be suspect in this case...

The very same thought crossed my mind. I was wondering if the younger child or any of his friends had access to a gun.

The shot through the waist suggests it was an accident though I don't buy the spirit story either.

Very sad and tragic.

A 38 year old man is in police custody after he gave himself up to Ban Nong Plap cops in Hua Hin after the discovery of a nine year old boy.

Kluay was found shot in the waist and buried in an old pineapple plantation on a hillside. The grave was covered by heavy rocks.

He had been missing since Sunday and a desperate search had revealed nothing until a spirit appeared to his younger sibling to point the way to the corpse.

In developments late last night Pramuk Khosin, 38, an ice factory worker back at his hometown on holiday, gave himself up to police along with a .22 rifle with a scope and a spade.

He told investigators it was an accident. He was out hunting for food and heard a rustling in a tree and thought it was a bird.

He shot once and went to retrieve his kill.

He soon realized it was a boy and he was mortally wounded. He died soon after and to cover up he decided to bury the boy and cover the grave with rocks.

He said he was scared of the consequences but after police pressure he gave up.

He has been charged with manslaughter, hiding a corpse and weapon licensing offences.

A press conference held by Pol Maj-Gen Surasak Suksawaeng of the Prajuab Khirikhan provincial police will be held today along with a reenactment.

The gun has a nice scope, but still he couldn't distinguish a bird from a nine year old kid?

Just b/c gun has scope doesn’t mean he used it....kind of like using brakes when light turns red.....

always better to go with your instincts and shoot first then investigate.....big bird!

why wouldn’t he have bagged his bird and taken it with him? He could have been in the free with a little brain power....

i'm a former hunter myself and wouldnt unlock lest i already got a good view and decided to shoot,

but some stories from the older hunters gave me the creeps,

how they would unlock and aim just in case they would see some movement between the branches

madmitch post 6, bonjour

Yes, reconstitution is mandatory, in case of violent death, (this case among others)
even if the offending gunman becomes a prisoner to the police.
Must prove that the shooter accidentally killed the boy
or if he wants to be free of guilt.
Although I have doubts about the skills, in this regard, Thai police.
When we see how she deals with road accidents, I always wonder how there is not another accident on this accident.
