webfact Posted March 17, 2019 Share Posted March 17, 2019 PM visits Chiang Rai, Phrae to follow up on government measures CHIANG RAI, 18 March 2019 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Chiang Rai and Phrae provinces to follow up on government measures for low-income earners and mitigate forest fires and haze. The premier paid the official visit to the northern provinces to follow up on the measures to help the low-income earners through the state welfare card and community forest projects and discussed the forest fire and haze mitigation measures. He met with elderly persons and welfare cards holders at the University of the Third Age, a learning center for elderly persons to promote the living quality and happiness among elderly persons and health knowledge management from local wisdom and public health. He traveled to Kok River Bridge to preside over the opening ceremony of the bridge, then observed an exhibition on the eastern city bypass road construction and road safety, and then at Chiang Rai provincial hall delivered his policies to government officials regarding forest fire and haze mitigation, the reduction of burning at farms and the promotion of common crop farming. The premier traveled to Phrae province to preside over the rights holding documents to community delegates as part of the Community Forest project, and delivered personal booklets to persons eligible for community’s common crop farming method. He visited Phrae Provincial Administrative Organization’s stadium where he followed up on progress in government projects. The premier expressed concerns for the haze where the volume of airborne dust has risen in some areas, causing the air quality to start affecting the villagers’ health. What concrete solutions does the PM have for stopping the farmers from burning their fields before planting season?
