Ah, this old myth. The woman in question had decided to kill herself with pills. The devoted labrador was desperately trying to wake her up.

If she was asleep and her face was numb how did she know the dog tried to wake her? Why after trying to wake her did it suddenly changed it's mind and chewed her face off?

Quote

On the night she was bitten by her dog Tania, Dinoire had by her own admission taken a large amount of sleeping pills and was as a result numb to her pet’s attempts to wake her.

According the article below they were bred for fighting.

Originally in the Victorian times they were kept to keep as family pets due to their good nature with children. It was only later that they were bred and trained for pit fighting.

Are pit bulls aggressive by nature?
The findings were a mixed bag for Pit Bull Terriers. The dogs were among the most aggressive toward other dogs, particularly those they didn't know. Pit bulls, the researchers found, were not significantly more aggressive than other breeds toward strangers and their owners.Aug 3, 2011

Looks like a very playful pup.  You Pitbull haters should be ashamed.

What a silly argument. Maybe we should ban Labradors as well. I mean, if they can bite "The Dog Whisperer" they can bite anyone right? Imagine if this was a child's face! Ban those evil, devil worshiping Labradors immediately

Firstly, I know very little about animals, technology is more my interest.
I do remember though that Pitbulls are a banned breed in the UK, and apparently the police can take it away if you have one.

According the article below they were bred for fighting. Here's more info (dated 2016) regarding four banned breeds in the UK:

P.S. Don't shoot the messenger!

You'd be suprised how easy it is to buy a Pit Bull in the UK, I know a few people in my small town that own them.

Obviously you do not know what a Pitbull is cuz they're banned in the UK. The dogs you know of are not Pitbulls. Quite a common occurrence from people who don't know dog breeds.

Both the ownership and breeding of pit bulls is banned in the UK due to the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991. They're not the only breed that's outlawed, either. ... The other three breeds that were outlawed in this Act were the Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Brasileiro.

Where's the pics? Naming the dogs as Pitbulls without showing proof of breed is plain wrong. Over 20 breeds are misidentified as being Pitbulls.

Image result for identifying pitbulls

They named the victim as a grandmother without posting proof, is that also plain wrong in your mind or is it only pitbulls that need to be proven every time they are mentioned in the news?

I took it at face value. It was a woman victim. Same as I looked at it in that she was attacked by dogs.

It's safe to assume that these six dogs, just as yours hadn't, had not hurt anyone until this either!

You could safely say that about all dogs. And how do we know all 6 dogs took part in the attack. Probably just assumed that cuz 6 dogs were found at the scene.
