webfact
Abhisit admits “no to Prayut” stand is not yet his party’s resolution Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva made clear today that his recent announcement that he will not support Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s return to joining pro-Thaksin parties in forming the post-election government is not a party’s resolution, but is in line with its political stance. Abhisit came under heavy criticism from former Democrat secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban, founder of the Ruam Palang Prachachart party (Action Coalition for Thailand party), for what he alleged to be his slant toward the pro-Thaksin Pheu Thai. Meanwhile, the pro-Thaksin camp has accused the Democrat leader of playing political games. Abhisit said that his statement and the remarks made by Mr. Thavorn Senniam, a deputy leader, on the matter were not contradictory and that the party, by means of a resolution, has the final say on key political issues and can overrule the party leader. Only in Thailand are those who steal so big revered as saviors of the country. The yellows are a bit klepto-cratic as well
