rooster59
Transport Ministry to introduce licenses for electric train operators tewit kemtong NONTHABURI, 22 March 2019 (NNT) - The Ministry of Transport plans to introduce licenses for electric train operators. Deputy Transport Minister Pailin Chuchottaworn, along with the Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Shiro Sadoshima, presided over the opening ceremony of a training center for rail system operators at Bang Pai electric train depot in Nonthaburi. The deputy transport minister said future rail system regulations will require all electric train operators to have valid operator’s license, which will be issued by a Department of Rail Transport set to be established in the future. In the meantime, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, a regulator of metro lines, has been instructed to set up the training center for rail system operators to provide training for related staff in order to improve their technological proficiency. The center is authorized to issue train operator’s certificates in keeping with international standards. In an initial phase, the MRTA will provide training for staff from metro operators currently in service, with 230-hour courses for train operators and chief train operators. Certificates will be given to participants who completed the courses, which can then be used for the application of operator’s license by the department of rail transport in the future. High demands for electric train operators are expected due to the planned opening of additional metro lines in Bangkok and neighboring provinces from now until 2029. -- © Copyright nnt 2019-03-

DLock
Why is something so obvious and expected even news... "The deputy transport minister said future rail system regulations will require all electric train operators to have valid operator’s license, which will be issued by a Department of Rail Transport set to be established in the future." ...so they haven't even established a Department of Rail Transport? That would explain a lot.

Retfed50
When has having a driver's license here ever meant that someone actually knew how to drive?
