The ones who can just shrug their shoulders and smile at everything and not think about things too much .

Dont have an opinion and agree with everything , just smile .

Everything is always right and no one is ever in the wrong .

Just smile and giggle to get through the day

Having...

a good partner

decent health

ability to suffer hot weather so you are at least not house bound.

living within ones means and being ok with it

something of quality to fill ones time, hobby, work.

interest in travel, holiday in Thailand and a break from it outside.

enjoyment of Thai food, more enjoyment, more happy

ability to function in the world in Thai, not at any level of fluency but able to conduct daily business, take trips, order food, etc

have lost the desire to run back home because it's just no longer home.

have lesser or no need for fancy standard of living, complicated foods, fancy sunday brunches.

did not arrive with pussy fever and never caught it, well socialised with females, you're not creeping them out on approach.

have young people in their lives

non smokers, moderate drinkers.

(not) a need to go out every night, weekend like some 20 something

reasonable weight for health and aesthetic reasons

been here 10+ years, really understanding the country beyond superficial levels.

a certain street smarts to smell a scam and get well away from it

a temperament that does not display anger openly

an ability to be one's own best company because farang can be so maladjusted, sociopathic and self centered

Money, enough money to meet ones needs.

Personally I suspect open mindedness and an ability to evaluate the issues and other things which surround us with a healthy balance - its ok to feel critical of somethings and speak up about them without getting upset, we should also recognize the good things and speak out about those too.

The negative issues with living in Thailand are out balanced by the positives.

Another thing which allows me to thrive and enjoy life here its to comfortably feel a level of respect for those around me, not the tools who act poorly, but the every day people who get on with their life quite normally... it generally lends to a level of mutual respect and makes life somewhat easier and more relaxing.

Also, by letting the issues I have no control over slide life is simpler, but handling those issues I do have control over in a mature manner, not losing my cool, being patient but being firm.

Good lasting sex involves foreplay, ever heard of it?

Yeah it something folks do to pretend they care. I dont. Its all about me.

But hey, with my xgf I used to do foreplay: going to the 7-11 to buy batteries for the vibrator. Here ya go sugar, call me when your finished and you can give me mine. Im going to watch replays of the last Newscatle match in the interim. And keep the noise down, its hard enough  understanding those mumbling pundits.

Open minded people who don't judge things by their own culture.  If you can relate to the statement, "Thailand does not have a proper "_________" then you will not do well in Thailand.

I moved to South East Asia in 1968 and saw most countries at their worst in the midst of war, violence and real poverty.  Now it is much better.

You must be a member of a sub-set; no offence intended.  Maybe one day you might open your eyes and look around.  It will make driving a lot safer.

Your florid, verbose and off-the wall posts do amuse me. I'm not so sure about face-to-face conversation.

I like the ones that do live streaming at the same time you are talking.  Cause you never know who you are really talking to unless you can see them live.

Ones who are flexible (not physically, although.... ????adventurous, not desperate, and not gullible.

It's often a matter of expectations and goals. It seems some people who set out to live in Thailand or similar places are trying to escape from themselves, convinced that such a vast change in their environment will bring about the changes they want in themselves or their lives. I think in some cases this actually happens but not often, and for the majority who don't find the expected improvement in their lives, deep depression can set in, especially if they've committed their emotions and finances into a false or failed relationship. We've seen and known of many a Western man who has been emotionally and financially bankrupted by a calculating lover.

Having different interests, being disciplined with money, not having a drink problem, regular exercise. The longer i stay here i realise its better to not have a girlfriend or wife, you just don't need to. You could make a good case for having a dog instead.

Not buying a condo/house also good, you have freedom to move in case of bad neighbours or law changes. Flexibility feels good.

Ah and the big one, don't spend too much time on here, the negativity isn't good for you

You would be distracted by the large, juicy, protruberant and pustulant zit on the tip of my nose that looks like a large inflamed vanilla ice cream cone, albiet a sickly light greenish yellow coloured one surrounded by red. It does have a tendency to wiggle as I talk sometimes. Maybe we should have dinner together one night to check.

Oh good lord!!!

Thank god it's far enough past breakfast and long enough until lunch where I am that I didn't have to toss my cookies and will likely forget this enough to have an appetite by early afternoon. That's a bit too vivid, but I should have known better than to keep reading after the first two adjectives used to describe the zit.
