A one on one fight broke out in Soi Yen Sabai, Pattaya, after a 45 year old Thai man saw an Omani national talking to his girlfriend.

The Thai man, named as Ratchawee Chomsawek, reportedly confronted his girlfriend Orawan, 34, who then left the scene around 1.30 am. She had told him that the Omani man she was talking to was just an acquaintance but he was drunk and wouldn't listen.

When she returned later she found Ratchawee face down in the street with blood coming from his mouth.

Medics were called and Ratchawee was given CPR before he was taken to Muang Pattaya Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ruk Siam News said he likely died from a broken neck after fighting with an Omani national called Muneer.

Muneer was arrested in Room 54 on the fifth floor of Sara Room outside which the fight had occurred.

He said that the Thai man had grabbed him by the neck and pushed him and a fight ensued.

Both Sanook and  Ruk Siam News described the fight as a "boxing match" using feet.

Pol Lt-Col Natthawat Ploenchit of the Pattaya Police investigating hopes that CCTV will clarify what happened.

Muneer is in custody and helping the police with their inquiries.

Well that makes a change from six on to one. By all accounts the Thai man was drunk and obviously jealous.

If he picks a fight after being told there was nothing going on and ends up dead, where does that leave the other fella, who was most likely simply defending himself?

There has to be alot more to this story.

1.30 am in Pattaya and she is talking to Arabs which Is not unusual according to her own words.

Why would a foreign man be talking to a Thai woman at 1.30 am in Pattaya?

Any guesses?

She looks relaxed in the station.

Husband's dead?

The problem was the not the Ommani guy, if she wouldn't be talking to this guy then it would be another guy and so forth, so the hubby was fighting the wrong person and for the wrong reason, well, at least now, he would have to be jealous any longer...

In police custody unlike the man who walks away from a fight with a maddened drunk.

Soi Yen Sabai. You couldn't make it up.

I drove through a village called, "Baan Nong Hee" once. Damn, did the women in my car have a field day with that. They made a song out it and filmed themselves singjng.

Anyway, kudos to the man fighting one on one, a refreshing approach here -- just ironic that he probably hadn't done it before and got killed.

RIP

Most women don't care about their husbands. They are ruthlessly pragmatic. He probably had nothing left to offer her.

Let's hope Miss Orawan can now move forward with her life and flourish, having been freed of this great burden.

Right,  a lot of these Thai girls have these so called "boyfriends" whether they want them or not.

So many experts in TV. I wonder how many witnessed the incident????, interviewed witnesses????, were privy to police reports????, have any investigatory experience????, or were sober when making conclusions????.

No one is claiming to be an "expert" though and posters are just giving their opinion on a newstory and thats what tends to happens on news forums  , no need for you to be so condescending

The Omani chap was just doing what many do in Pattaya at 01:30 am in the night. The jealous BF comes over, assaults him, the Omani defends himself and ends up in jail....very bad for tourism, very bad for the local "business"...better off and safer to do such 01:30 am "shopping" either in Cambodia or Vietnam, one could assume....

This is what happens in a one-on-one fight between an Thai and an foreigner.  Which is why Thais need to fight 5 or 10 to 1.  It's difficult to not get the tar beaten out of them otherwise.

I hope the CCTV doesn't show the Omani chap stomping on the Thai leading to the broken neck.

As good a scenario as any suggested so far with the facts we have been given.

Stupid Thai man, one on one, never change a winning system.

you don't know exactly how did he die, who provoked an attack.

but you hate Thai people so much, that you feel happy about this man's death?

I wish somebody will be as happy when you will end your miserable life.

Strange story

She probably a prostitute but Thai man got jealous

Thai men can't fight one on one

Exactly, why fight over a hooker (or any woman)?

sure the thai guy was jealous about the girl?

Thai cops did not allow photos of the accused (Arab = pay off, they know)

Thai nobody died of broken neck (easy to pass off as unintentional and no connections)

You will not hear of this case again, trust me.
