DAS advice

Can anyone advise me on what brand of DAS to buy/is good?

Am looking for DAS rather than NAS because I dont require the unit to be connected all the time - just when I connect it to my computer (1 computer user) or when running plex (server is on my one computer). I think a DAS may suit my needs better just to get higher speed but have noticed that market seems to be going over to NAS with many manufacturers only making NAS these days, I did look at hyrib NAS but seemed expensive.

I would need .....

Thunderbolt 3 (mac user)

16 GB min (will run raid so need full backup plus 8 GB of working space for vdos and pics)

Am thinking 4 bays min (but six would be OK if I can add different sized HDDs as I have 4  3 GB WD hdd which have my files on at present)

Hot swapping of failed drives

thinking of a budget of 1000 USD

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

This is something you only need if you can't even switch this off for one minute. Is that what you need?

Otherwise forget about that feature, you don't need it and probably you have more choices without it.
