Bang Lamung police held a press conference conference yesterday to announce the arrest of four Thai men responsible for a large number of burglaries in the Pattaya area.

The miscreants behind the masks were Rat, 25, Nott, 23, Mee, 27 and Ef, aged 23.

Their modus operandi was to target empty properties in the area where they would use tools to break in and steal items they would subsequently fence on the black market.

The proceeds were used to play games, do drugs and enjoy the nightlife of Pattaya.

Taken into evidence were two motorbikes, tools including a circular saw and a host of stolen items including cash, amulets, cameras and watches.

The gang have admitted to two thefts in the Bang Lamung police jurisdiction, 8 in Nong Prue and 5 in Pattaya.

They have been charged with theft from properties during the hours of darkness.

Police urged the public to call them on 1559 or local station numbers with information to help with inquiries.

This was a joint operation of Bang Lamung, Nong Prue and Pattaya police station officers.

The Pattaya News praised the police for clearing up this spate of burglaries saying the cops had been able to "show form" (a Thai expression that means 'used their skill' in English).

stupid photo shoot,  let the public see their faces, we need to see who we are dealing with, as they will be out in t5 minutes, doing same same

Police seem to have no problem showing victims, media no problem reporting addresses of homes burglarized, yet these guys get to cover themselves up? How much did it cost of their ill gotten gaines did they pay in order to remain anonymous and return to life of crime once released?

These head coverings are a shroud of oppression representing the domination of the criminal class by the law abiding.

Looking at their head dress, can one assume these miscreants are from the Moslem community?

A juvenile comment, devoid of any useful content. The bottle talking.

That's so funny. Thanks for a good hard laugh.

They were "paraded for the press". Really? I would think that the idea of "parading" them for the press would be to expose their identities and shame them. The police may as well put balaclavas on inflatable sex dolls and plunked them down in the chairs.

If they haven't been convicted and therefore legally possess the right to have their identity concealed, then wait until proven guilty and "parade" them properly with their faces showing. If not, release them with apologies and compensation.

A weak attempt at humor, but in the Muslim community only women wear burkas. These berks

(Berkeley Hunts) were under dressed.

Eh?  Do you mean by allowing their faces to be covered the criminals have domination over the law-abiding?

I think they are under-cover police anyway, or inflatable sex dolls.

ive seen alot in thailand were dangerous criminals have been robbing or breaking in houses and the news only reports when they are caught, not any of their crimes. many would be looking into the news and almost see no crimes in the news.

Really, this sort of report is meaningless because you get 4 unidentified men in balaclavas put in front of the cameras to try to show the cops are doing their job. We get no details, no follow up, no confirmation on sentences/names etc. later or anything. Might as well said " We caught 4 mermaids trying to steal fish at the local hardor" and then move on to the next item in the news cycle. Even in the small chance they get jail time they will be quietly released a few months later to do the same again...BS.
