Get over it, super imposing first world expectations on a third world country just leads to excess frustration if that third world country just isn't ready for that progress yet

i think the country is ready for progress.  The leadership maybe is not, because progress might mean they lose their power.

The EC is nothing but an ass end of the serpent and cutting it won't really do anything. Hell, once the EC has served its only purpose (and absolutely nothing will happen to them before that) and the junta has announced itself as a legitimate government of Thailand with Prayut as the PM and destroying any nonconformist seeds along the way, I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Dad-of-All would step in and sacrifice the EC himself, just to prove he truly cares about the people.. Everything accompanied by a glorious media circus force-feeding his holiness to everyone for days to an end.

As the document has been written this may be the only outcome. Bangkok not satisfied they will stamp their feet up and down like a spoilt child. Then there is the water buffalo, move slowly but force to be reckoned with. Then the armed forces they have the bullets. Then the aristocratic type or the well off's who have the money.

The bottom line is the army is still and will remain in control maybe for a very long time. Their argument will be they have been doing a good job up until now, as they see the landscape.

Be Smart and yes show up at a Protest but just turn your Back on who ever your protesting Too or for.

They will get the message,By turning your Back to them they Loose Face and it is a Peaceful no need for Military Intervention.

It will not be Long until the rest of the World start too see what is really going on ,you only have to read the World Bank Report that was submitted to the Bank stating how financial Thailand was, only 5% of the Population was in Poverty and it keeps going on, More Creative Writing.

... with power come great responsibility.

Anyone else have any views of people being responsible in this land mass.

’the irresponsible leading the irresponsible’. (in general terms that is, I have met and become aquatinted with a very small number of self responsible people of this land mass.

Well, Reuters reported that there were about 100 people at the protest. That is still tiny. If it grows into the thousands then maybe it may signal the start of something. As of now, this is basically a nothing burger, as they say.

Put coup Generals in orange jumpsuits, and trim the military to what is appropriate for a country the size of Thailand, and put it under direct civilian rule, like in most countries.

Create a true independent judiciary.

Pay police a decent wage that discourages corruption and actually enforces laws

Purge the 'independent' commissions of military and political stooges

Then you just might get somewhere.

......alright I'm waking up from my fantasy dream.

Game on to the next riot, coup, who knows

when was the last time Thailand was at war?  does it really need a military?

AN EXCITING DISCOVERY!!!

University researchers have discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (symbol = Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons,

88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons,

which are surrounded by vast quantities of klepton-like particles called pillocks.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected,

because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact.

A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second,

to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years.

It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganisation in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

This process is known as an election. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time,

since each reorganisation will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration.

This hypothetical quantity is referred to as a critical morass.

When catalysed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol = Ad),

an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium,

since it has half as many pillocks but twice as many morons.

That nothing burger of about 100 protestors were match by about 100 security personnel deployed. A rather heavy does of intimidation has worked last 5 years and still used.

The photos I saw yesterday when this was happening looked more like in the thousands, not hundreds.

University students and other citizens expressed their impatience with the EC’s inability to declare the credible full tally a full week after the election. Discrepancies in numbers provided by the EC have raised suspicions and it has been unable to provide credible explanations to allay public frustration.

The fix is already in place.

Kudos to the students for finally getting a voice back... just hope this doesn't become another "Tiananmen square" moment in Thailand !

In no way at all does the situation mirror Brexit.

In Thailand, the citizenry simply want a return to democracy.

In the UK, a bunch of racist want to shoot country in the foot whilst the sane majority want to correct an obvious mistake.

Spit out those sour grapes and stop reading the Guardian.

I think we all sense serious trouble may result from this. Thai people, especially the younger element, are far more aware of what is going on in their country than previous generations.

And if they are angry, they have a right to be...

Being English I am afraid that I don’t see myself in a position to lecture Thailand on political propriety!

In terms of degree though it’s like comparing a head cold to terminal cancer. The UK government could easily fall over their mishandling- here though....?

Think about it. What has the army done in the last five years? Protect the elite, the super wealthy, those that are well connected, the police, and those that are in power (the army). Who is the election commission composed of? No doubt the elite. So, what are they trying to accomplish? It does not take an MIT grad to figure this one out, and determine why this is taking so long.

They should be protesting for clean air to breath. Wasting time and energy. The reality is the SUPER wealthy control Thailand. When polititians become too powerful, The military protects the wealthy. The only thing dangerous in Thailand is the air pollution, road transportation, and defamation/slander of the wealthy.

Hotting up, massacre perpetrated by the military in Bangkok due later this year if the "rinse and repeat" history theory is anything to go by.

Mother-in-law remembers the days of the Thammasat massacre and when she heard about students gathering in Bangkok, her only voiced concern was how the Thai MSM is not mentioning much of anything about it.

Yeah right, how do you think the developed world developed ???? it’s not your country to decide is it?  Thai people deserve better, and they should make the improvements if they choose
