One man died and several relatives were injured after a lighting bolt struck at the Jeng Leng cemetery by the Bang Phra reservoir in Sri Racha on Sunday.

Foundation medics found Phisit, 26, unresponsive at the scene with burns to his jeans. He had been given CPR by relatives and was taken to hospital but died there.

Two relatives were also taken to hospital with injuries from the lightning.

Sanook reported that the family in several cars had gone to the cemetery to take part in a Qingming Festival.

When rain and storms started to hit the area the family went back to their cars. Phisit was putting something away in the trunk when he was struck.

Sanook reported that a damaged aerial of the victim's Mitsubishi Pajero indicated that the lightning probably struck that vehicle. Several cars were damaged in the strike.

Qingming is an annual festival known as "Tomb Sweeping Day" celebrated by people of Chinese descent in Thailand and other countries.
