Hospitals are often nice and new but doctors can't diagnose a hookworm infestation in a kid. Yes, doctors and diagnose are not up to western standard. I visited chemotherapy room, and I was instantly 'back to the 1970s'. For many the lack of western medicine is what frustrates us the most. The huge population and lack of hospitals are very obvious. Bare minimum of staff in hospitals incl doctors, are below par. Expect 15000 - 25000 peso (288-480$) per 24 hrs admitted to hospital for more serious condition. Minor conditions with treatment 2000-5000 peso. (38-96$).

Compare to Cambodia instead, a more fair comparison. A country's wealth, average income, unemployment rate, must be in consideration to make a fair and honest comparison. I think, with your question, you will not accept any alternative to Thailand. Not until immigration tell you to leave within 7 days. I was a hardcore defender for Thailand for more than a decade living there. When immigration started their first frequent changes, I started to explore alternative country for relocation. I opened my mind for a new culture, less comfort, and easier steady visa.

My visa is easy and steady... why would I want a less comfortable place? 4 1

Popular Post ExpatPH 876
From my opening post #1: 'With the never ending visa changes in Thailand, I hope this will be helpful now for SOME present stressed TH expats and others'. keyword: Some. * Thaivisas Thailand Visa Information section is flooding with posts about the many who got problem either at point of entry, or when extend or renew. THEY are my 'target group'. I received pm from married people, who no longer feel safe. I use substantial time to write this topic, many hours every day. I do my best to reply totally honest, both positive and negative. No sugar coating here. Naysayers and haters do not get to me, I see appreciation from many others, and I will continue writing. Travel agents are permitted, and do this legally from their travel office. Else you're right. 1
Destiny1990 7,302
Somethings and or services are terribly more expensive in Phills then Thailand. Aircon bill and internet bill condo rents and car rental for example. as i said most expats are logged into Thailand with houses and local partners i doubt they will relocate because a beer can is slightly cheaper in Phills.
