Draw your own conclusions from that but I would suggest that the Lt-Gen, like him or loathe him, is in extremely serious poop.

Very serious and an inactive post would be too good as an outcome.

More like 20 years incarcerated and stripped of his stars.

GOOD! Now can we roll back to more reasonable, reliable and friendlier retirement visa requirements.  Best news would be going back to allow embassies to issue affidavit letters.  Logic would dictate, the more money a retiree has access to, the better for the country.

If he was so inspired why didn't he fix the IO rules for every province, instead of having to avoid this border or that or avoid women IO's.Why couldn't he address speculation of IO's  interpreting  the laws and fix that!  It's very alarming when Thai embassies in many countries vett and approve visa applications only to have Thai IO suspect you of having to many visits. He was a part of the latter

Don't forget that the retirees bring in an average sum of 50,000 baht each, every month.

That sir, is a considerable sum of foreign money.

A former provincial governor once said that every retired expat brings two jobs for Thai people.

There have been rumblings for a year or so that he was viewed as "jumped up" by peers, subordinates and superiors (and the PtB), having such a public persona, and rising way above his station, and far faster than anyone in his strata.

That he has apparently been taken off the board is both a lesson to him and others.

Hopefully, he doesn't contract some rare blood disorder.

It depends at what level you are looking at the figures and classifying it as 'a considerable sum'.

Especially for the low paid ones …. the Northeast ….they would feel the losses of the 40/45000 frozen baht a month (average over the whole year ..) not coming in …,they could be "winded up" very easy..., especially after these "free(?) elections"

Ok, right now all we have is one Thai article saying he "abused Royal privilege" with no explanation of the "abuse" so, at this point we really don't know anything concrete.  But rest assured, the full story WILL come out, as he is way too high profile to just sweep it under the rug. I'll wait for that before I seriously comment.

Under the present rules these average retirees do not meet the 65K cashcow rule and should be deported... :coffee1:

You really didn't expect that a top cop that actually enforced the law would last long here? Why it just goes against the entire grain of the entire ruling class.

what! he made the whole foreign community look like the criminal elephant men, what ever the 'rumours' being put out, this will be about billions and billions of dollars at risk,by having nationalist restrictive immigration policies being supercharged, the last 12 months, and they are impacting 'the greedy big business partners' in the gang

I nominate ubonjoe to replace Big Joke as the immigration commander.  Do I hear a second?

well, at least Joe might give some thought and consideration to the impacts of the rules he'd implement, and how they are implemented, before actually issuing them.  And, might even bother to consult with the impacted constituencies/constituent groups for comments/suggestions, before laying down the law.

And finally, once he decided on new rules, he might actually clearly and publicly publicize them, including in a language other than Thai, so all those impacted by the rules would have some idea what they actually are. Instead of having to rummage through dozens of forum threads searching for clues and breadcrumbs of just what Immigration is up to.

Worse than that he is accused of abusing royal power. Off to the gulag for 50 years!!

wasn't he supposed to be re-writing the immigration bill and unveiling it on 24th April?

faster, more efficient, water-tight or something like that.. AI, biometrics all that jazz

i wonder what will happen to that now?

there are the rumours being put out, just like reading hello magazine, but these nationalists takeover was also about greed, billions of reasons to use round p's homeboy to take a hit for impacting short term and long term stays

Transferred...

Due to the turmoil created by the new visa money rules?

Do you really think there was any turmoil likely to effect the overall running of the country by a change of the rules regarding foreigners and money.

Far too many TVF members think their presence in Thailand is important, well guess what, it's not. If all expats left tomorrow, the effect would be equivalent to you not peeing into the ocean.

Given that, and as I said in another post, now discontinued, perhaps it will now be "bad guys in, good guys out" as perhaps he stepped on the toes benefiting from the previously corrupt system.

In case you hadn't noticed, it's already been "bad guys in, good guys out," increasingly under this latest regime and its recent rule and policy changes. Especially if you factor out all the low-hanging fruit of migrant Laos, Cambodians and Myanmar workers who regularly are getting rounded up, surely to be quickly replaced by new ones coming across the border.

Not sure I can, he was arrested at the Pullman hotel in one of King Power's suites.

He has been accused of a crime that is usually used by a certain somebody when they want to sut up a former ally. Computers seized and possibly never to be seen again

First of all, nobody has a white vest in this country, specially not the guys, who like to wear these white uniforms blinking like a Christmas tree.

Second, rassistic people should not be in any position of the immigration office.
