BANGKOK, 6 April 2019 (NNT) - The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) has confirmed that the current prices of general products especially consumer products remain stable.

The DIT Director General, Mr. Wichai Potchanakij said the rise in food products due to the drought problem is just temporary and not something to worry about.

The Ministry of Commerce has been regulating the prices of essential consumer goods and the product prices generally remain stable especially ready-made food.

He has asked product manufacturers to keep product prices stable during this period in which people will have to spend money during the Songkran festival and the start of the new semester. Many restaurant operators have already stored lemonade for use during the lime price hike.

There are also measures to reduce the cost of living through over 56,000 Pracharat Blue Flag shops nationwide and blue flag fairs which offer blue flag products at prices 20-40 percent cheaper than the market price. The Ministry of Commerce will hold a back-to-school campaign from April 25 – May 15, 2019, offering 20 – 80 percent discounts on uniforms, stationary and other school supplies to reduce the financial burden on parents.
