Seems Prayut wants to keep a very close watch on him. This fits with an earlier guess. Thaksin/team may have tried to connect with BJ because they thought his flamboyant style and public popularity would be useful in any future street protests, which now look more likely. The next protests will include cyber-control, which BJ also knows. Remember Taksin and Sae Daeng, Lt Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol, the highly popular leader of the red street protests in 2009, before he was shot through the head while talking to a reporter live. Sae Daeng and BJ have quite similar flamboyant leadership styles. Both Thaksin and BJ have police roots. Sae Daeng was Army. Both Thaksin and BJ were just recently stripped of position or honors by the same person. Sae Daeng was probably too flamboyant, having been fired for throwing a hand grenade in his commanding general's office because the general forced Sae Daeng to take dancing lessons. (that's Thainess) As for Prawit? A man with a watch knows what time it is, a man with two is never sure. "future street protests, which now look more likely." dream on. after 5 years of military rule we didnt here a peep from the Thais and you think they will rise up now and force another 5 year Coup???? wildewillie89
The Thai social media idea of him looking too close into the election doesn't really seem logical considering he is best mates with the Ass PM. Look at the timing of everything. For coalition governments to be formed sometimes certain demands have to be met.

observer90210
Sorry to post in again here, but thought this would be useful to get a wider scope on art. 44 and when and why it is used. ???? Article 44. In the case where the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order is of the opinion that it is necessary for the benefit of reform in any field and to strengthen public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public peace and order or national security, the Monarchy, national economics or administration of State affairs, whether that act emerges inside or outside the Kingdom, the Head of the National Council for Peace and Order shall have the powers to make any order to disrupt or suppress regardless of the legislative, executive or judicial force of that order. In this case, that order, act or any performance in accordance with that order is deemed to be legal, constitutional and conclusive, and it shall be reported to the National Legislative Assembly and the Prime Minister without delay. [Excerpts from 2014 Interim Thai Constitution- Unofficial Translation] Article 44 grants the Head of NCPO power to give any order deemed necessary for “the benefit of reform in any field and to strengthen public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public unity and harmony, or for the prevention, disruption or suppression of any act which undermines public peace and order or national security, the Monarchy, national economics or administration of State affairs …,” and provides that any such order “…is deemed to be legal, constitutional and conclusive…” )ref. : https://www.facebook.com/tlhr2014/posts/what-does-article-44-of-thailands-interim-constitution-sayarticle-44-in-the-case/654635414664581/)

Classic Ray
First job to introduce democracy to Thailand would be to reinvent the Army as guardians of national security taking orders from a freely elected Government. This would involve them relinquishing all business interests including directorships. Second job would be to cleanse the police, recreating them as protectors of life and property and servants of the people, free from political interference. No business interests for them either. Both jobs would need substantial pay rises to make corruption unnecessary and easily punished. Otherwise the cycle of coups and repressive governments with noses in the trough will continue forever. Classic Ray
Thais. The dream became a reality in both Hong Kong and Singapore because the people and the Governments banded together to make it happen. It helped that they were both British colonies either present or former and had a model of governance to adopt and assistance from the UK to achieve it.Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
