Lawyer: Changing your number plate registration could land you in jail

A top lawyer has warned against changing the number plate on your vehicle - it could land you in jail or get a heavy fine.

The warning came as a Facebook poster reported on the crude attempt to change the number on a Bangkok taxi.

At first glance it looks like 1 มก (mor gor) 7903. Closer inspection shows that it was originally something else.

Karoon Unicon noticed this on a cab in the Bangkapi area of Bangkok.

Netizens were concerned about reporting the number in the event of a crime.

Top lawyer Ronarong Kaewpetch told Daily News Online that doing something like this contravened Article 265.

That could result in a jail term of between 6 months and five years and fines from 10,000 to 100,000 baht.

Thaivisa notes that here was no word yet on the driver being arrested - if indeed he can be found.

The same top lawyer said that in his spare time, his hobby was "stating the bleedin' obvious."

More likely concerned about mistakenly using the 'fake' number when buying lottery tickets after an accident/incident with the car in question.

One more thing for the police to concentrate on.

instead of doing real traffic duties that could save lives.

and rid the streets of the murderous somchai's  and his

disgraceful driving behaviour.

Maybe you are right but I bet that "top lawyer" gets better paid then you or me for stating the obvious.   Did you know it was illegal to jump red lights ?   20,000 baht please to my bank when this little known fact is published.

As the jails fill up with exuberant water throwers in various states of undress and sobriety selfie takers and vapers surly these infringements can easily be resolved with the death penalty and or removal of the number plate altogether like so many do already????
