Went to the waterfalls for Songkran but only Thais get in free, not foreigners.

Yes the Thai divers license thing sometimes works, but the practice of blatant racism is not one of the pretty things Thailand stands for. And this primarily only comes from the government. All most other venues don't charge, well except for say like going to the zoo. But Thai drivers license does work there.

he is passing a comment on dual pricing which is NOT fair..does not go on in the UK....

The UK National Trust operates differential pricing, lower prices for those who live and or work in National parks. Not just their own employees.

Oh  but skin colour does  matter, my Burmese staff used to get in for free to many places if  they kept their  mouths  shut. The Thais always thought they were Thai.

That was nothing to do with their skin colour, it was because they were mistaken for being Thai as a result of their Asian features.   By the way, what colour skin do Thais have?

Reduced prices for UK citizens only?  Really?  There's nothing about that on the English Heritage site.

Now you know that's not what I said, what does the English Heritage site actually say about discounts?

Do you have permanent residency or are you on a non-immigrant visa?  That is what it comes down to, not the color of your skin, not xenophobia, just a discount for nationals that you are not one of and so not eligible for.

Doesn't matter if he has permanent residency or a non-immigrant visa, because the official rule is "price x for thai citizens" and "price y (usually 5 or 10 times x) for all others"

The difference is that someone living in Florida would get the discount, regardless of country of origin.

He is a local in Thailand but it is a discount for native Thais, not a locals discount.

A discount for all locals would avoid the feeling of being ripped off and insulted, which is a result of letting some locals like his wife and kids in for the low rate and the husband who is also a local has to pay the high rate.

With workpermit or DT I have always paid the Thai price.

So it is a local discount.

"You think discounts for locals don't exist in the UK, have us visited stonehenge recently?"

Well that's what you posted and that sure seemed to be what you were suggesting bearing in mind the context of the thread!

Apart from concessions for students and over-65s the Stonehenge site says nothing about "discounts", what's your point?
