Police in downtown Sakon Nakorn in Thailand's north east apprehended a would be rapist from the roof of a  dormitory building housing female university students.

A ladder was used to bring Wirachet, 22, down. He was taken into custody and charged with attempted rape, assault and trespass in the hours of darkness and detained.

"Bell" (an assumed name) told Sanook reporters that she had had a room on the third floor of a block in a female only dormitory for the last two years. Security was good with a key card system.

At 4.30am she was playing with her phone in bed when she heard someone trying to open the doors in the corridor. Her door was unlocked.

Then a man burst in and pinned her to the bed. He tried to rape her but was unable to perform as he was drunk, she said.

She bided her time and when she got the opportunity she bit his hand and kicked him from the bed.

He screamed and fled from the room and she called the police.

The would be rapist climbed onto another three story dormitory adjacent to the one where the attack occurred and was found on the roof unable to move and get down.

You might have noticed that it's holiday time in Thailand and universities and schools are closed.

Not to would-be rapists, apparently. Worrying if one has, like me, a daughter at uni.

My post was in relation to someone suggesting she was a poor student because she was on her phone at 4.30am, when in fact it is a holiday and she had no classes.
