Not the tragic event but the idea of these people... A small bottle, a scoop ash, a sticker with the original Notre Dame and "kashinnng" the EURO is rolling..

Don't even need to scoop at the site. Any ash would satisfy the suckers!????

As stated few days ago, there is currently outrage in France and some surrounding countries, on the millions of suddenly and very generously donated by various entities/individuals, (who are going to get juicy tax rebates amongst others)....but in the meantime no money was ever found, nothing ever done for the thousands of homeless and other people of France, sleeping on the streets or who live on the limits of poverty.

Sorry if I hurt anybodys religious or architectural sensitivity, but human survival or well being,  gets priority.

Jesus said "the poor are always with us" No matter how much is given to the "poor", more will come.

The cathedral should be rebuilt either as it was before the spire was added, or as it was before it burnt. No "modern" twists on a world heritage building. Most modern architecture sucks bigly.

If anyone wants a "modern" cathedral, they can go build their own.

You don't sound to be a good person who cares about the less unfortunate souls, you care only about yourself?

There is no need to make the same mistakes what the earlier builders did. Our societies have advanced further since 800 years when this church was build. Why we shouldn't show our progress and rebuild the cathedral by the new possibilities we now hold?

Well said.
As someone who thinks that the koran and the bible are and have been the most widely bought and read fairy tale stories of all time...it's only fitting that...imo...the bible " followers " and the very wealthy catholics should foot the whole financial cost of the rebuild.
Vatican financial officials..are you listening!!!

The Bible is not a fairytale, it's the true and authentic word of God. Atheism is just another religion based on the hatred for God and too much science fiction.

you may believe that... emphasis on the word "believe"....

but for many of us, it's just a bunch of long handed down stories and reports written by various humans a long long long time ago, about things that may or may not have actually happened.

That's why Luke 13:23 makes a lot sense.

Quickly becoming old and stale news. People already bored with it. Just watch, all the big time donors to the restoration effort will soon forget their pledges.

No problem, just get some corporation to fund it in return for calling it after the corporation. No longer Notre Dame, but <insert corporation name> cathedral.

sarcasm alert for the humour bereft.

I was just reading that some smart fellows are filling the ashes in small bottles and selling it for a good coin.

Great Idea.. Same as they did with small concrete pieces of the Berlin Wall.

One on benefits living bum made over a 350k EUR for selling these pieces and had not even an own computer or internet in his apartment. he made it via an internet shop..

This is the first time I think that the church is helping the poor handing over cash ???????? made me laugh...

Not the tragic event but the idea of these people... A small bottle, a scoop ash, a sticker with the original Notre Dame and "kashinnng" the EURO is rolling..

Reports said they saved relics of "Jesus' Crown of Thorns" and a bit of the "true cross".... too bad in sense that selling bottles of ashes could have stated "may contain ashes from Jesus crown and true cross". Think of the rush of the rubes for some of that!
